Alberta Bair Theater presents country music living legend Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives on Thursday, April 7 at 7:30 p.m. Touring to support his 18th studio album Way Out West, Grammy awarded Stuart continues to write, record, and release keenly relevant music that honors country's rich legacy while advancing it in to the future.

In 1935, Country music's “first family recording group,” The Carter Family, released “Can the Circle Be Unbroken.” The song (a hymn reworked lyrically by the group's patriarch, A.P. Carter) would become one of the genre's early commercial hits. Later, it would become symbolic of the “family of Country music,” in recognition of its roots and the artists who would carry those traditions forward for future generations. In celebration of this idea, Gabriel Communications is pleased to announce its latest 'reunion' series and DVD collection, “Country's Family Reunion Presents: Country's Unbroken Circle,” which affirms that, even today, traditional country music is alive and well and the “circle” remains enjoyably intact. 

Yep Roc Records and the Southern Folklife Collection at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Libraries announce the release of Doc Watson, Live at Club 47, set for a February 9 release on CD and digital, nearly 55 years to the date of the original recording. The LP release will follow April 27.

The soundtrack of the acclaimed indie film American Folk—which stars musicians Joe Purdy and Amber Rubarth—is out today  (purchase now via Thirty Tigers). Starlight Theatre's performance group, The Starlight STARS of Tomorrow, created a musical twist on a Pitch Perfect favorite. The group spent several afternoons filming their version of the song 'Cups', performed by Anna Kendrick in the film Pitch Perfect.
