Fall Classes Begin 9/9 at Synetic Theater

Synetic Theater's fall session of classes will take place between September 8 and November 29, 2014. Classes include programs for elementary, middle and high school students, as well as adults. All classes will be held at Synetic Studio, 2155 Crystal City Plaza Arcade T-19 Arlington, VA 22202. For more information or to register for classes, visit www.synetictheater.org or call 703-824-8060.

Classes for children include Elementary Adventures in Acting, for ages six to nine years old, and Middle School Foundations, for ages 10 to 12.Synetic is the premier source for physical theater education in the greater DC area, andclasses use Synetic's signature style of Physical Theater to create athletic, creative kids.

The Teen Program for high-school students includes voice, movement, acting and devising theatre classes. This program provides foundational and advanced training to teens with professional aspirations, offering a holistic approach to actor training that prepares students for creating characters, working in an ensemble, and develops generative artists capable of conceiving, adapting, writing, and staging their own dramatic works through a collaborative process.

The Teen Production is a selective and rigorous training and performance program that culminates in a two week run, produced at professional standards. In addition to training in performance, the Teen Production offers assistant technical theater positions in lighting, sound, stage management, and technical direction. After 5-8 weeks of rehearsals, teens this fall will be tackling last year's wordless Shakespeare hit, Hamlet...the rest is silence.

Auditions will be held on August 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., for one hour per audition group. Call backs and supplemental auditions for those unable to attend the first audition will be held on September 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Adult professional acting classes (ages 16 and over) include Synetic Technique, Ballet Basics, Beginner's Modern Dance, and Adult Acting in Physical Theater. Adult classes are designed to complement one another, providing a balanced immersion in the various techniques of physical theater stemming from the rigorous training that Synetic company members undergo.

Synetic Fitness is an exercise class that develops strength, conditioning, and flexibility. Like the professional adult theater classes, Synetic Fitness is based on the training techniques that Synetic actors use to prepare for physical theater productions. Synetic Fitness is for anyone at any level, not just performers or actors.

New this Fall, Synetic will offer Ballet Basics and Beginners Modern Dance!

Prices range from $180 to $360. Drop-in rates for adult classes are $25 per class. Flex Passes are available for $350 and allow members to attend four out of six adult classes each week. Pricing is very competitive for local classes, and are affordable without lowering the quality of instruction. Flexible payment plans are available, and packages offer the opportunity to save when subscribing for a season of education!
