Synopsis:
Toast is a 30-minute single camera sitcom; four college friends meet every Saturday morning for brunch, at Rooster’s, a dingy but lovable diner, to discuss the night before. When a new member is added to the group, they must adjust to the changing dynamic as they navigate through their university relationships, classes and life in general.
Character Profiles:
Rosie- Female, 21, Somehow always gets into trouble or does something stupid, much to her dismay. She shares an apartment with Ashley. She is the one who discovered Rooster’s in the first place and adores its charm even if the food is bad. She is a very loyal friend but is worried her group is in a rut and is excited to introduce her high school friend Sasha to everyone else.
Ben- Male, 21, a guy’s guy, a man’s man, he loves sports as much as the next bro but his friends know his true passion is food, which is why is a big advocate for leaving Rooster’s but stays because of tradition. Smart, handsome and funny, he is the true package and has a way with the ladies. However, he just met this girl he can’t stop thinking about, who happens to be Sasha. He shares a house with AJ, his freshman year roommate, who he bonded with over their mutual love of video game warfare or Call of Duty.
Sasha- Female, 20, is in the art school and bit of a free spirit. She saved up money by going to community college for two years before transferring to her dream school. She didn’t plan on meeting an attractive and intelligent guy her first night there. She is a bit unsure if she wants to ruin her friendship with her new friends by telling them that she already hooked up with one of them (Ben). She now lives in a sublet with some weird people.
Ashley- Female, 20, has her shit together, she wants to be a cardiothoracic surgeon, is scheduled to graduate early and is very focused on her future, especially on finding Mr. Right. She has always been in a relationship until now, after another Mr. Wrong broke up with her. In our pilot episode, we see how uncomfortable Ashley is without a boyfriend and the trouble she has adjusting to the single life. She lives with Rosie who she finds to be quite messy. Ashley can pretty passive aggressive about it. Cousins with AJ. Always asks for separate checks.
AJ- Male, 21, (Ashley Jonathan) cousins with Ashley, Ashley is a family name. It very much bothers him that not only does he have a girl’s first name but that he also has to share the same name as his cousin. They bicker a lot but in a friendly, familial way. He likes being a computer science major because he is good at it but sometimes finds it to be dull, so he tries new things and is very involved in an array of clubs, whether he is good at them or not. Currently trying out for the ice carving team.
Sean, Male, 21 Waiter at Rooster’s and has secretly had a crush on Rosie for a long time. Easily frustrated with the customers. Hates his job but needs the money.
