PAPER MILL PLAYHOUSE ANNOUNCES CHILDREN’S AUDITIONS FOR

HOLIDAY PRODUCTION OF THE SOUND OF MUSIC

Paper Mill’s last production of The Sound of Music featured

a young Nick Jonas. Could the next child star be at these auditions?

(Millburn, NJ) Paper Mill Playhouse (Mark S. Hoebee- Producing Artistic Director, Todd Schmidt- Managing Director) announces non-union, children’s auditions for the acclaimed theater’s production of The Sound of Music on Saturday, September 15, 2012. The Sound of Music will run at the Millburn Theater from Friday, November 23 through December 30, 2012. Rehearsals begin Monday, October 29th in New York City.

Paper Mill Playhouse seeks GIRLS who look ages 6-16 and BOYS who look ages 12-16. Children and their guardian should join the line in front of the theater and enter through the front doors of the theater only. Audition sign up will take place in the theater’s lobby on a first-come, first-served basis on Saturday, September 15, 2012. Sign up for ages 6 to 11 begin at 9:00am and sign up for ages 12 to 16 begin at 12:00pm. Every child should have a picture and resume stapled together.

Any child who auditions must bring sheet music in the appropriate key and style and be prepared to sing 16 bars only. An accompanist will be provided. No recorded music please. Children should wear appropriate footwear as they may be asked to dance. Callbacks will be held on the same day. Depending on the number of children auditioning, there is no guarantee everyone will be seen.

“The last time Paper Mill Playhouse held an open-call audition for children in The Sound of Music, we discovered a talented young man by the name of Nick Jonas,” commented Mark S. Hoebee, Paper Mill Playhouse’s Producing Artistic Director. “Nick went on to become a major star both in the recording industry and on Broadway. Could the next Nick Jonas be at these auditions? I sure hope so!”
