Oyster Mill Playhouse announces auditions for The Roar Of The Greasepaint, The Smell Of The Crowd

Oyster Mill Playhouse in Camp Hill will hold auditions for its first musical of the 2013 season, The Roar Of The Greasepaint, The Smell Of the Crowd. It was written by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley and produced by special arrangement with Tams-Whitmark. Auditions on March 17th will begin at 6 pm for chorus and 7 pm for adults. On March 18th, auditions will begin at 6 pm for chorus and 7 pm for adults and call-backs.

The cast includes a total of 1 woman and 3 men, as well as ensemble that will play the urchins. The playing ages are 10 years old to 50+. Auditionees should dress comfortably and wear comfortable shoes for dance movement. Those who are auditioning should prepare to sing all or part of a song of their choice. They should also bring sheet music for the pianist or an accompaniment tape or CD. Some British/Cockney accent is required for some characters.

Directed by Stephen F.J. Martin, The Roar Of The Greasepaint, The Smell Of The Crowd tells the story of "Haves vs. Have Nots", "99% vs. 1%". This musical gives patrons a comic tale of the English class system. Meet Sir, a pompous individual who is always on the winning side, and Cocky, his meek partner who always seems to be on the losing end of the "game" the two men play. Accompanied by the Urchins, the two players move through their "Game of Life". The show features such hits as "On A Wonderful Day Like Today," "The Joker," "Feelin' Good," and "Who Can I Turn To" written by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley (Willy Wonka, Stop The World...)
