AUDITIONS: Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story

Jefferson Performing Arts Society will be holding auditions on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 beginning at 6:00pm at the JPAS Rehearsal Space located at 5005 Bloomfield Ave. Harahan, LA, next to Compass Furntiture, across from Elmwood Plaza, behind Ochsner.
Jefferson Performing Arts Society is looking to cast two roles for the production of Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story.
Caucasian Male
35 - 50 years old
Minimal singing
African - American
This actor must be grounded but have the ability to energize and entertain an audience. This actor will sing two songs in the style of James Brown.

THE PRODUCTION:
On February 3rd, 1959, the man who changed the face of popular music tragically died in a plane crash aged 22. Now, Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story tells the story of the three years in which he became the world’s top recording artist with a show that features over 20 of Buddy Holly’s greatest hits including “Peggy Sue”, “That’ll Be The Day”, “Oh Boy”, “Not Fade Away”, “Everyday”, “Rave On”, “Maybe Baby”, “Raining In My Heart”, Ritchie Valens’ “La Bamba”, and the Big Bopper’s “Chantilly Lace”. Over 20 million people have come to see Buddy all across the globe where the magical talents of Charles Hardin ‘Buddy’ Holly have been shared live with many more people than the real Buddy Holly ever had the chance to perform to. The incredible legacy of the young man with glasses, whose musical career spanned an all-too-brief period during the golden days of rock ‘n’ roll, continues to live on in Buddy.
PREPARATION MATERIALS INCLUDE:
16 measures of a 1950's rock - n - roll song
1 - 2 minute monologue
NOTE: Please arrive 15 minutes early to your scheduled audition time
REHEARSALS BEGIN:
February 18, 2013
Those cast in the production are asked to limit any and all conflicts.
PERFORMANCE DATES:
March 7, 9, 10, 16, and 17, 2013
Please double check your schedule to make sure you are available for all performances and for every rehearsal during tech week.
