Present a 1-minute monologue and be prepared for cold readings.

AUDITIONING FOR MUSICAL THEATRE Part 1

Presented by Doug Yetter

Clear Space Artistic Director

Learn how to select music and to prepare yourself for an audition. Session includes:

Picking a16-bar music selection, how to present yourself and your music, acting

a song, how to speak with a musical director in an audition situation, and vocal/coaching

choices. Actors may bring songs or songs will be provided.

March 2

AUDITIONING FOR MUSICAL THEATRE Part 2

Presented by Doug Yetter

Clear Space Artistic Director

A continuation of how to prepare yourself and your music for an audition.

Session includes: Presenting a 16-bar music selection to a director and your

peers with feedback. Actors provide their song based on what they learned from the

previous musical theatre workshop.

MONOLOGUE WORKSHOP

Part 2, March 9

Presented by Dot Neumann

Bring your monologue to life! Dot will work with actors to clarify character, objective,

and action choices using technique exercises and individual feedback.

Please bring a monologue. You may join this workshop even if you did not

attend Part 1.

WORKING WITH A NEW PLAYWRIGHT,

Presented by Cassandra Pressimone.

Read a new play by an up and coming new playwright, Cassandra Pressimone.

The session will include the reading of her piece with talkback about thoughts and

observations to follow. Tell the new playwright what you think the strengths

PUPPETRY WORKSHOP,

Presented by Wesley Paulson

David Button, Company Manager

Avenue Q, The Lion King, War Horse-with so many shows using puppetry, we pulled

a few strings and borrowed puppets

from the Millian Methodist in Rockville, Maryland for this workshop.

Learn puppetry techniques to bring that piece of cloth and foam to life and

learn how those techniques help actors bring themselves to life as well!

Learn how to work different types of puppets from Human Puppets to Monsters

to Animals - creating movement and a voice for each!

March 30

WORKING WITH A DIRECTOR

Presented by David Button, Director and

Clear Space Company Manager

David will lead actors through scenes that have multiple interpretations. He will direct

actors in these scenes utilizing different approaches, exploring genre, objective,

physicality, relationship, and analysis. What is a character''s true motivation - to kill you

or to seduce you? Why are you being questioned - because you committed a

crime or are the victim of it?

Come see how the same scenes can have very different readings and outcomes!

April 6

READING OF A PUBLISHED PLAY

Presented by Doug Yetter, Artistic Director.

As Clear Space looks for works to be presented in upcoming seasons,

the company would like to hear new pays read aloud. We begin this process with

the published work of Ronald Harwood, QUARTET - the play made prominent

by the recent movie starring Maggie Smith.

April 13

FRIEND-RAISER EVENING

All workshop attendees are encouraged to participate in this presentation where we

showcase what we've learned throughout the

semester for an invited audience of friends, family and anyone who loves theatre!

This fun and informal evening will include snacks, drinks, and some audience participation.
