FOR HOLIDAY PRODUCTION OF OLIVER!

Open auditions for “Orphans” in the opening number and the role of “Oliver”

will take place at the Millburn theater on Saturday, September 7th

Paper Mill Playhouse (Producing Artistic Director: Mark S. Hoebee; Associate Artistic Director: Patrick Parker) announces an open call audition for children for the theater’s production of Oliver! on Saturday, September 7, 2013. Paper Mill Playhouse seeks boys (or girls who can play boys) who look ages 10 to 14 to play orphans in the production’s opening number and for the role of “Oliver”.

Audition signup will take place in the theater’s lobby on a first-come, first-served basis on Saturday, September 7, beginning at 9:00am. Children and their guardian should join the line in front of the theater (22 Brookside Drive, Millburn, NJ) and enter through the front doors of the theater only. Every child should bring a picture and resume stapled together.

Children will be taught a short piece of music from the show and should wear appropriate footwear as they may be asked to dance. Callbacks will be held on the same day. Depending on the number of children auditioning, there is no guarantee everyone will be seen.

Oliver! will run at the Millburn theater from November 21 through December 29, 2013(Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day off). Rehearsals begin Monday, October 28 in New York City.

“Students who have appeared on the Paper Mill Playhouse stage have gone on to have major careers on stage, in movies and on television,” commented Mark S. Hoebee, Paper Mill Playhouse’s Producing Artistic Director. “This is a wonderful opportunity for young people to be a part of a professional production and perform on the legendary Paper Mill stage.”

Oliver!

November 21 through December 29, 2013

Music, Book and Lyrics: Lionel Bart (Based on Charles Dickens’ OLIVER TWIST); Director: Mark S. Hoebee; Choreographer: JoAnn Hunter; Music Director: Craig Barna; Casting: Telsey + Company/Patrick Goodwin.

Adapted from the novel Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens, this is one of the most beloved and celebrated musicals of all time. You will be enthralled from the start with this miraculous tale of a young orphan in his quest to find home and family amidst the seedy underground of Victorian London. Dickens’ larger-than-life characters will sing and dance their way into your heart with iconic songs including “Food Glorious Food,” “I’d Do Anything,” “As Long As He Needs Me,” “Who Will Buy?,” and “Consider Yourself.”
