Encore Theatrical Company announces AUDITIONS for “Next to Normal”.

Encore Theatrical Company is excited to announce Auditions for “NEXT TO NORMAL”, June 9-10 beginning at 2 p.m. Next to Normal features music by Tom Kitt and book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey and was nominated for eleven 2009 Tony Awards, winning for Best Original Score, Best Orchestration, and Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical. It also won the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, becoming just the eighth musical in history to receive the honor.
We are seeking strong actor/singers to bring this electrifying pop-rock score of over 30 songs to life.
All roles are available for this production and performances will run Sept 7 – 23, 2012. The rehearsal start date is TBA (Mid-July). Rehearsals will be evenings and weekends.
Diana (30s-40s) (Alto with belt/mix to E) - Sexy, Sharp, Delusional bipolar depressive.
Gabe (18*) (ROCK TENOR to B) - Diana's dashing, gentle, and bright son.
Dan (30s-40s) (High Baritone/Tenor to A) - Diana's handsome, genuine, husband.
Natalie (16*) (Alto with belt/mix to E) - Diana's daughter who is always trying to be perfect.
Henry (17*) (High Baritone/Tenor to A) - Natalie's musician boyfriend, romantic but a stoner and slacker.
Dr. Madden (High Baritone/Tenor to A) - On the young side of ageless. *This is playable age range, not true to life age. We will consider older for younger.
For the audition, performers should prepare 16 bars of an up-tempo selection, 16 bars of a ballad in the style of the show. You will be contacted by email with your audition confirmed audition appointment. Also, if you take a while to get up your nerve to audition and forget to sign-up for a slot, don’t worry! There will be openings for Walk-In Auditions both days.
If you are unable to attend Auditions do not fret! Encore will be happy to consider those unavailable by accepting video submissions.
