Possum Point Players Set Auditions For Fall Musical “Hairspray.”

Possum Point Players have scheduled auditions for the award-winning Broadway musical, “Hairspray.” Auditions are Saturday, July 11, 1-5 P.M., and Sunday, July 12, 6-10 P.M.; auditions are held in Possum Hall, 441 Old Laurel Rd., Georgetown. Show dates of “Hairspray” are Oct. 2, 3, 4, 9, 10 and 11.

Director Michael Murnin is seeking a multi-racial cast of men and women from 16-years of age and up. Those auditioning are to prepare 16 to 32 bars of a pop song and bring sheet music for the accompanist. They should also bring a resume and photo, and all should dress appropriately to dance.

Detailed audition information is available on the web site,
possumpointplayers.org, including individual character descriptions. Those with questions or who cannot attend scheduled auditions can call Murnin,
718-614-6532.

“Hairspray” won eight Tony awards when it was on Broadway, including Best Musical. With good-natured comedy and song and dance, it tells the story of young people who don’t always fit the pretty-and-popular mold, adults who aren’t the typical nine-to-five dads or soccer moms, and how, in their own way, they can make the world a better place.
