CORTLAND REPERTORY THEATRE ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS FOR 44th SUMMER SEASON

Cortland Repertory Theatre is announcing local auditions for the upcoming 44th annual summer season in 2015. Auditions will be held on Saturday, January 24 from 10:00 - 5:00 and Sunday, January 25 from noon – 5:00 at Homer Junior High School, 53 Clinton Avenue in Homer, NY. Productions include:

· “Always a Bridesmaid”: an all-female cast comedy;

· “1776”: a musical about the signing of the Declaration of Independence;

· “The Addams Family”: a musical based on the iconic TV show;

· “Sherlock Holmes and the West End Horror”: a comedic mystery;

· “Miracle on South Division Street”: a family comedy;

· “Suds”: a revue featuring the music of the 1960’s.

Those individuals interested in attending these auditions may call
607-753-6161 to sign up for an appointment.
Walk-ins will be seen if time allows. These will be the only local auditions CRT will hold this year. Paid internships are available for college students. If cast, actors must be available for both daytime and evening rehearsals. Season dates run from May 18 - Sept 5. Rehearsal and performance dates vary depending on show.

· Primarily seeking non-union actors. All roles in all shows open. Seeking a variety of types and ages, all nationalities. Cortland Repertory Theatre is an equal opportunity employer.

· Please bring a current, non-returnable photo and resume, with phone number and email address.

· For the plays: Please prepare one 1 - 2 minute comedic monologue. British dialect required for “Sherlock Holmes”.

· For the musicals: Please bring your own sheet music. Pianist will be provided. Prepare 16 measures of an uptempo and ballad in an appropriate style of the shows. Be prepared to sing more if asked.

· Auditionees may be asked to read from provided scripts, and may be asked to attend a dance callback for “The Addams Family”.

· Note that CRT is particularly seeking adult men between the ages of 30 – 70 of all types who are excellent actors and singers for “1776” and women between the ages of 40 – 60 who are excellent comedic actresses for “Always a Bridesmaid”.

· Youth Auditions: CRT is also seeking one local boy, age 12 - 15, who is an excellent actor/singer for the role of Pugsley in “The Addams Family”. Ideally, this young actor should be on the shorter, pudgier side. Some movement/dance is required for this role. In preparation for this audition, youth actors should prepare a song; familiarity with this musical and Pugsley’s songs is best. Youth actors may sing a song from the show if they like, but must provide their own sheet music, clearly marked with the section of the song they know. Due to time limits, we may not hear the entire song. A prepared monologue in the style of the “creepy Addams Family” is very helpful. Youth actors must be available for the entire rehearsal process: June 22 - July 8; and the entire run of the show: July 8 - 25. This is the only role for youth under 18 years of age that we have available in this year's season.

· Due to time restraints, CRT rarely arranges private auditions.
