BOUNCERS - The Public House Theatre

The Public House Theatre is excited to announce auditions for John Godber’s Bouncers. Auditions will be on Sunday, March 2nd, from 12pm to 4pm, with callbacks on Wednesday, March 5th at 6pm. Please prepare a one minute piece in Standard British or Cockney, and prepare to stay for a cold read with fellow auditioners. Please bring a stapled headshot and resume to the audition.

This dynamic, energetic British play (running April 17th to May 17th, Thursdays through Saturdays at The Public House Theatre) revolves around four Bouncers overseeing a "normal" night's worth of drinking and debauchery at the club Mr. Cinders. They are questioning their lots in life, and itching to "nut" someone. Additionally, the four Bouncers also portray the lads and ladies heading to the club, enacting their inevitable encounters with each other and the titular tuxedo-wearing Keepers of the Peace. This play is traditionally done with four men, but since The Public House Theatre is anything but traditional, we will be casting the show with two men and two women.

Character Breakdown:

Lucky Eric - (older, male) - The de facto leader of the Bouncers group. Questioning his status and his life choices. Wanting to get out of the profession but has nowhere to go. Also plays Maureen, a massive woman who is quite nice and eager to drink, as well as Baz, the heel of the lads.

Judd - (female) - Dumb, eager to fight, eager to eat, eager to usurp Eric's role as leader. Lacks attention, but makes up for it with strength and ambition. Also plays Plain Elaine, a down on her luck woman who is sort of the heel of the ladies group, as well as Terry, the savvy ladies man.

Les - (younger, male) - Desperately wants to prove himself to the other Bouncers, loves the job. Likely gay, much to the chagrin of his fellow Bouncers. Also plays Rosie, who is having her birthday that night and is the reason for the outing, as well as Kev, the solid go-to guy of the lads.

Ralph - (younger, female) - Quiet, stoic, a Judo Master. Simmers in anger but her training has given her a sense of inner calm. Also plays Sexy Susie, the most attractive and loose of the group of ladies, as well as Jerry, the eager youngest member of the lads.
