BASETRACK - En Garde Arts

En Garde Arts is a not for profit organization (formerly called En Garde Productions) that is producing a multi-media theatrical event called BASETRACK depicting the stories of Marines who served in the war in Afghanistan. An award-winning theatrical team is developing this show culled from real life video interviews with marines in Afghanistan and back at home. The show will be touring nationally, and will have its New York premiere in November.

We are hiring the following positions, and are seeking qualified people who have served in the military.

ACTORS – NON EQUITY TOUR

1. MARINE COMPOSITE. 20s. Portrays active duty and veteran Marines. Military service preferred. Charismatic but enigmatic; a talker, funny but capable of keeping secrets as well. Athletic/muscular, comfortable with solo performance, direct address, and portraying multiple characters.

2. FEMALE COMPOSITE. Early/mid 20s. Portrays military wife and other characters. Warm, winning, generous spirit. Comfortable with direct address, performing multiple characters.

Age can be flexible.


MUSICIANS / ELECTRONIC MUSICIANS NEEDED
The music for the show will feature live performers singing and playing a collection of electronic instruments and tools.

1. FEMALE POP/ROCK SINGER.
* Needs to be charismatic, soulful, and have an interest in using a theremin or other electronic device for live audio processing.
* Will perform both lead and BG parts live.
* A basic knowledge of keyboards/synths or Ableton Live is a plus but not required.

2. ELECTRONIC DRUMMER / PERCUSSIONIST
* Diverse performance skills: electronic, rock, ambient, percussion.
* Needs to be able to read a pop/rock chart and percussion part.
* Experience with programming grooves a plus.
* Basic knowledge of performance technology such as Ableton Live and/or Logic a plus.

3. DIGITAL PERFORMING ARTIST – RAP ARTIST – BAND LEADER
* Needs to have an excellent knowledge of electronic music performance technology including Mac, Ableton Live and Logic.
* Must be comfortable setting up an electronic music rig.
* Knowledge of basic video performance technology needed.
* Ability to rap with pre-created text.

4. VIOLIN/ELECTRIC VIOLIN
* Classically-trained with good performance skills.
* Experience playing with amplification or on an electric instrument.
* Experience or willingness to use pedals or other electronic tools in performance.
* Some skills on a secondary instrument such as a guitar or mandolin a plus

5. CELLO/ELECTRIC CELLO
* Classically-trained with good performance skills.
* Experience playing with amplification or on an electric instrument.
* Experience or willingness to use pedals or other electronic tools in performance.
* Some skills on a secondary instrument such as a guitar or bass a plus


TECHNICAL POSITIONS

1. PRODUCTION STAGE MANAGER
* Normal stage management duties
* Run lightboard on tour
* Focusing light at each tour stop
* Company management on tour
* Advance work for each tour stop, i.e. calling performance venues in advance
and confirming their equipment and that tour rider provisions will be met
* Problem solving as issues come up

2. ASSISTANT STAGE MANAGER
* Normal assistant stage management duties
* Load in and maintain scenery on tour
* Load in and maintain costumes on tour
* Back up Production Stage Manager and Technology Technician on their show
running duties.
* Help PSM with advance work for each tour stop, i.e. calling performance
venues in advance and confirming their equipment and that tour rider
provisions will be met
* Problem solving as issues come up
* Assistant Production Stage Manager with duties as assigned


REHEARSAL/TOUR SCHEDULE INCLUDES:

Development:
June 22 – July 13, Gainesville, Florida

Tech Rehearsal:
August 25 – September 7, Tempe Arizona

Première:
September 8 -12, Austin Texas

National Tour Begins:
September 15

New York Première:
November 10 – 16


AUDITIONS:

ACTORS: May 5, 12-5pm

Auditions will be held in midtown Manhattan. Exact location will be provided upon offer of appointment.
