Bainbridge Performing Arts (BPA) Holds Mainstage Band Auditions
September 9, 11 & 13: Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday by Appointment
FOUR great shows; four AWESOME opportunities! Resident Musical Director Josh Anderson is holding BPA’s 2014 – 2015 Mainstage Band Auditions for LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, MONTY PYTHON’S SPAMALOT, SIDE BY SIDE BY SONDHEIM, and DROWSY CHAPERONE on September 9, 11 and 13 at Bainbridge Performing Arts. Auditions are by appointment only, and interested parties are instructed to email Josh Anderson at
janderson@bainbridgeperformingarts.org for an audition appointment.
Those auditioning are required to prepare a solo selection of 16-32 bars, preferably from musical theatre, for their primary instrument. Doubling and tripling are quite common, so participants should feel free to bring a selection in a secondary instrument as time permits. In addition, those auditioning will receive a short selection to present with BPA’s provided accompanist. Each contracted position includes a stipend.
LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS runs October 10-26 and offers positions for Guitar, Bass, Reed 1 and 2, Trumpet 1 and 2, and Percussion. Reeds cover Clarinets, Baritone Saxes, and Flutes. This deviously delicious sci-fi smash hit musical features a rock-inspired score that devours the conventions of 60’s sci-fi music!
MONTY PYTHON’S SPAMALOT runs December 5-21 and includes positions for Bass, Percussion, Reeds 1 and 2, Trumpet 1 and 2, French Horn, Trombone, Guitars, Solo Violin, Keys 2 and 3. Reeds cover Clarinets, Alto and Tenor Saxes, Flute, and Bass Clarinet. Guitars cover Nylon, Steel, Electric, Banjo, and Ukelele. “Spamalot” is a new musical lovingly ripped off from the motion picture “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.” It features a modern Broadway score with nods to classic conventions and styles, as well as some treasured Python hits!
SIDE BY SIDE BY SONDHEIM runs February 13-22. The sophistication, wit, insight, heart and genius of Broadway's most innovative and influential artist is at the center of this tribute to composer-lyricist Stephen Sondheim. DROWSY CHAPERONE runs May 8-24 and offers positions for Bass, Percussion, Reeds 1, 2, 3, &4, Trombone, Trumpets 1, 2, & 3, Keys 2. This “rare combination of unprecedented originality and blinding talent” is a “musical within a comedy” that boasts a lush score which hearkens back to the Golden Age of Broadway!
