Step Dave Joins The Court Theatre to Premiere Romantic Comedy ACHE, 19 July - 9 August

Summer. A wedding. The smokers deck. He's trapped in a modern day malaise. She's deciding whether to go back to London.

So begins the world premiere of Ache, the Forge's latest production by award winning playwright Pip Hall.

Auckland actor Jono Kenyon joins The Court Theatre for his first theatrical performance since completing filming for the TV series Step Dave for which he is well known.

"I'm super excited to be treading the boards once again," says Kenyon "especially for the people of Canterbury!"

The cast also includes Court Theatre favourites Amy Straker, Alice Canton and Owen Black.

A contemporary romantic comedy, Ache is told through a series of vignettes and follows the lives of two urban professionals as they desperately navigate their way through their ever-changing relationship and the world around them. Both achingly funny and heart-breakingly sad, the play is a modern love story about timing and seizing the day.

Inspired to write Ache after talking to a friend who was in despair over an unrequited love, Hall was fascinated by the notion of fate and timing and how we might influence and create our own futures.

Hall has worked as a full-time writer in theatre, film and television for almost 20 years. She has multiple awards to her name including the Bruce Mason Playwriting Award, New Zealand's most prestigious theatre honour.
