If you love classic comedies from the golden ages of Broadway, and are looking for a most enjoyable evening of theater, look no further than Milford Area Players (MAP) enchanting production of The Philadelphia Story. The Philadelphia Story is a 1939 American comic play by Philip Barry. It tells the tale of a socialite whose wedding plans are complicated by the simultaneous arrival of her ex-husband and an attractive journalist. The play retrospectively highlights Philadelphias high-class society and norms of the 1900s.This is a classic play filled with the delicate balances of great comedic timing, various nuances and clever repartee. The characters that many of us are familiar with, by this play, the movie, or the musical High Society, are brought to life by a talented cast from the Milford area. The high jinks of socialite Tracy Lord and her eccentric and colorful family are sure to bring smiles and laughter to all in this clever and creative adaptation. Under Roger Hurds skilled direction and with a cast of talented actors from Amherst, Merrimack, Milford, Mont Vernon, Nashua, and Weare, The Philadelphia Story is sure to be a delightful evening of laughter, tears, joy and an evening of fun theater.
