July 8 - Peck School of the Arts at Gathering on the Green, 5-8pm
Visit the Peck School of the Arts table TONIGHT at Gathering on the Green. We'll be celebrating UW-Milwaukee Music alum Willie Pickens, who opens at 6:30pm for Tierney Sutton. And there will be plenty of information about our upcoming 2010-11 season, too! Visit Gathering on the Green online.
July 9 - Biennial George Goundie Memorial Scholarship Exhibition and Silent Auction Opening Reception, 5-8pm, Union Art Gallery
Dedicated to the memory of Professor Emeritus George Goundie, the exhibition and silent auction raises money for student scholarships in the Peck School of Arts Sculpture Department. The exhibition will include a variety of artworks in various mediums with all pieces being available for purchase through a silent auction held concurrent with the show dates. July 10 - ScreenDance, 9:15pm, Danceworks (outdoors)
Now in its fourth year, ScreenDance unites the Departments of Dance and Film at UWM with the Danceworks DanceLAB to bring innovative dance films to Milwaukee audiences. The award-winning international films are selected through Dance Film Association, a non-profit dedicated to heightening awareness of dance films and dances created specifically for the camera. ScreenDance is an exciting outdoor film experience, with a screen hung outside of the Danceworks building. Patrons are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Tickets: $10. The Peck School of the Arts Dance Department presents two unique evenings featuring works by Dance MFA students. Each summer, professional dancers and choreographers travel from across the United States to participate in the school's renowned graduate program. Their collaborations will culminate in two evenings at the end of July when they share their original and compelling work with the public.
Tom Strini of Third Coast Digest will moderate a pre-performance discussion on Friday, July 30 from 6:15-7:15pm with choreographers and dancers. A reception will also follow Friday's performance.
