Now in its 37th year, The Rep's production of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, sponsored by MillerCoors, is Milwaukee's beloved holiday tradition which has delighted audiences for generations at The Pabst Theater. Adapted by Joseph Hanreddy and Edward Morgan, Dickens' classic masterpiece brightens the holiday season with its beautiful carols and timeless message of hope, peace and love and the true meaning of the holidays. Milwaukee Repertory Theater is delighted to announce that Aaron Posner returns to The Rep to direct A Christmas Carol. Posner directed The Rep's To Kill a Mockingbird, which broke all-time attendance records last season, as well as the lyrical, beautifully-realized production of My Name is Asher Lev in 2010. This will be the first time that Posner has directed A Christmas Carol. This year's cast includes Milwaukee actors Marti Gobel and Jonathan Wainwright; Rep newcomers Melody Betts, Renata Friedman, Melisa Pereyra, Luigi Sottile and accomplished stage actor Christopher Donahue as Ebenezer Scrooge. Returning to The Rep this year are former Rep Artistic Intern Ensemble members Alexander Pawlowski and Emily Trask and frequent Rep guest artist Jonathan Smoots. Also rounding out the cast are Rep Associate Artists Angela Iannone and Gerard Neugent and Chicago actor Erik Hellman. A Christmas Carol runs at The Pabst Theater from November 29 – December 24.

"A Christmas Carol is an integral part of our season each year and we are so fortunate to be able to perform it in the beautiful Pabst Theater," says Artistic Director Mark Clements. "It warms my heart to see so many families attend this iconic holiday production, and to hear their stories of what it has meant to them over the years. It really has become Wisconsin's favorite holiday tradition."

"It is an honor and a pleasure to be here working at The Rep with this amazing group of artists helping to tell one of the greatest, most enduring, most worthwhile stories ever written," added Director Aaron Posner. "If a single story has ever brought about real good in the world, in has to be A Christmas Carol. The message of charity, hope, love and redemption is as timeless as it is important."

Mark Clements added: "This year's production marks a new era for our Carol, now – after more than a dozen seasons of careful and loving direction from former Artistic Director Joe Hanreddy, former Associate Artistic Director Edward Morgan, and former Production Stage Manager and Production Manager Judy Berdan – moving forward in the capable hands of my good friend and colleague, director Aaron Posner. I'm so pleased that Aaron has agreed to tell our treasured tale of redemption and rebirth, and to move it into the next stage of its life here at The Rep with his customary attention to detail, flair for visual storytelling, and great, warm heart."
