Having just secured the rights to the new Terrence McNally play Mothers and Sons, Theatre Memphis will produce that drama in place of Edward Albee's All Over, previously announced as the February 2016 offering in the upcoming season.

At turns funny and powerful, Mothers and Sons portrays a woman who pays an unexpected visit to the New York apartment of her late son's partner, who is now married to another man and has a young son. Challenged to face how society has changed around her, generations collide as she revisits the past and begins to see the life her son might have led.

Executive Producer at Theatre Memphis, Debbie Litch, explains, "We have the unique opportunity to do something brand new and fresh that we can offer the theatre community. We had applied for the rights originally for the 2015-16 season but only were able to secure them just now. We are pleased to be able to bring this contemporary story to our Next Stage fulfilling our desire to be current and connected to new art being produced."
