Marshwood Education Foundation (MEF) Public Relations Chairperson Mimi Abell commented recently about fundraising last summer at Hackmatack Playhouse in Berwick.

"Marshwood Education Foundation is very grateful for our past fundraising event with Hackmatack. Our supporters that attended truly enjoyed the Hackmatack experience of fabulous entertainment at such a charming and quaint theatre. MEF has awarded grants supporting arts in our schools, and this fundraising opportunity was truly a win-win collaboration for our community."

Several non-profits have already signed up for fundraising at Hackmatack and "with Sping having arrived, The Hackmatack is in full prep mode for an entertaining summer season," according to Hackmatack producer Michael Guptill.

Guptill said that fundraising opportunities include sharing the proceeds from ticket sales and can include use of their tent, grounds, and other facilities for a reception, barbeque, or social. Guptill reports, "There is no obligation as far as specific numbers of tickets that are required to be sold and non-profits can raise as much as $3,000 in one night." Other organizations are encouraged to inquire.

The 2014 schedule for the summer at Hackmatack Playhouse includes "Arsenic and Old Lace," June 20 through Saturday, July 5; "The Music Man," Wednesday, July 9 through Saturday,July 26; Monty Python's "Spamalot," Wednesday, July 30 through Saturday, August 16; and "The Trip to Bountiful," Wednesday, August 20 through Saturday, August 30.
