ROCK OF AGES, THE MUSIC MAN and More Set for the Carnegie's 2016-17 Theatre Season

The Carnegie's 2016-17 Theatre Series Season promises high-energy performances, great musical numbers, and plenty of humor.

The Carnegie will kick off the 2016-17 season in the Otto M. Budig Theatre this August with the musical ROCK OF AGES, a show that will have patrons rocking out to their favorite 80s songs. Then in November, The Carnegie takes on LOVE, LOSS, AND WHAT I WORE, a play that examines the interconnectedness of women's lives and wardrobes with wit, humor, and poignancy. Strike up the band in January for a stupendous production of THE MUSIC MAN, a family favorite sure to get toes tapping to its iconic score. The Carnegie will end its season in March with its fourth and final production, a show that will be announced in the upcoming weeks.

ROCK OF AGES is a classic boy-meets-girl tale, set at the end of the 80s to all the hair-band hits you loved. Drew is an aspiring rock star working at a bar when he meets Sherrie, a young woman who has just arrived in L.A. to seek fame and fortune as an actress. The two quickly find they have feelings for each other, but the trials and tribulations of the rock and roll lifestyle keep them apart. Drew must decide between his dreams of stardom and the woman he loves before she boards a midnight train going out of town.

Full of your favorite 80s hits, ROCK OF AGES features such songs as "Hit Me with your Best Shot," "Sister Christian," "We Built this City," "The Final Countdown" and many, many more. This fun-filled evening of rock anthems will have you dancing in the aisles and singing along in your seat.

LOVE, LOSS, AND WHAT I WORE

This incredibly humorous and touching play explores the lives of women through 28 interwoven characters who share their memories of love and loss as framed through the clothes they wore. From prom dresses to miniskirts, the female obsession with black, and the hunt for the perfect purse, LOVE, LOSS, AND WHAT I WORE cheers and jeers the idiosyncrasies of the female experience.

An Off-Broadway smash, adapted for the stage by Nora Ephron, writer of Sleepless in Seattle, When Harry Met Sally, and You've Got Mail, this play has enjoyed sell-out runs at theatres and playhouses the world over; and has featured such funny women as Rosie O'Donnell, Tyne Daly, Kristin Chenoweth, Jane Lynch, and Kristin Wiig as members of its cast. Enjoy this masterpiece of wit and wisdom for women and those who love them.
