ONCE IN A LIFETIME

By George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart

February 18 - 28, 2016 | NKU Corbett Theatre

The first of many collaborations between the legendary writing duo, Kaufman and Hart's ONCE IN A LIFETIMEisa laugh-out-loud extravaganza. Indulge in this wickedly funny tale of three on-the-skids vaudeville troupers-Jerry, Mae, and George-who decide to take advantage of the latest craze, "talkies," by heading to Hollywood and posing as voice experts. There they find absurd silent-film starlets, insane movie studio executives, crazy gossip columnists, desperate cigarette girls, dim witted stage mothers, and jaded studio hands. This delectable sendup of the excesses of Hollywood will keep you on the edge of your seat through every hilarious twist and turn.

Director and NKU Associate Professor of Theatre Performance, Mike King helms the hilarious Hollywood hijinks onstage in ONCE IN A LIFETIME. King's many directing credits at NKU include South Pacific, Dracula the Untold Story, A Piece of My Heart, The 1940s Radio Hour, and the Y.E.S. Festival world premieres of The Divine Visitor, Spake, Two on the Aisle, Three in a Van, and Pig. Mr. King has appeared as Doc in West Side Story at The Carnegie, William Coles in Other People's Money with New Edgecliff Theatre, Oscar in The Odd Couple, Pap in Big River and Herod in Jesus Christ Superstar at Jenny Wiley Summer Theatre, and was the artistic director of Jenny Wiley Theatre; he continues to work professionally in industrials and voice-overs, specializing in dialects.
