Bare Bones Theater at 57 Main St., Northport, presents “The Pillowman”, a dark comedy by Martin McDonagh. Performance dates are February 19, 20, 21, 27, 28, March 6, 7 at 8 p.m.; February 22, March 1, 8 at 3 p.m. With echoes of Stoppard, Kafka, and the Brothers Grimm, the play offers up suspense, surprises and humor, both bright and black. The plot centers on a writer in an unnamed totalitarian state who is being interrogated about the gruesome content of his short stories and their similarities to a series of child murders. Winner of the 2005 Tony Award for Best Play, “The Pillowman” is a work of theatrical bravura that ultimately examines the nature and purpose of art.
