Broadway veteran Caroline O'Connor will join the cast of SWEENEY TODD at Théâtre du Châtele as Mrs. Lovett. O'Conner will take over for previously announced Deanne Meek for the four-week production.

In 2003 O'Connor made her Broadway debut as Velma Kelly in Chicago. Her West End theatre performances include Mabel in Mack & Mabel for which she received an Olivier nomination for Best Actress in a Musical. O'Connor was a member of the original 1986 revival cast of Me and My Girl at the Adelphi Theatre. O'Connor's other UK theatre credits include A Chorus Line, Hold on Tight it's 60's Night, Chicago, Damn Yankees, West Side Story and as Ellie May in Showboat for the Royal Shakespeare Company and Opera North.

The theatre will present Stephen Sondheim's SWEENEY TODD from April 22 to May 21, 2011. The musical is the story of a murderous barber who slits his customers' throats and his neighbor who bakes the bodies into pies. The production will also star Rodney Gilfry and Franco Pomponi (Sweeney Todd), Jonathan Best (Judge Turpin), John Graham-Hall (Beadle Bamford), David Curry (Pirelli), Nicholas Garrett (Anthony Hope), Rebecca Bottone (Joanna), Pascal Charbonneau (Tobias 'Toby' Ragg), and Rebecca de Pont Davies (The Beggar Woman).

The theatre's 2010-2011 season will include many other performances, including numerous concerts and a production of the opera IL POSTINO starring Plácido Domingo as Pablo Neruda. For more information, visit www.chatelet-theatre.com
