Seeking
Equity dancers who sing for the ensemble and special chorus parts.
see breakdown.
Preparation
Men bring knee pads and either dance shoes or sneakers.
Women bring rehearsal skirts, character heels, and regular jazz shoes.
Also prepare 16 bars of a standard musical theater song from the 40’s, 50’s, or 60’s (style of the show) in case asked to sing.

18 & up to play late teens-20s. The toughest and strongest of the Jets Lieutenant to Riff, silent, slow, steady. All ethnicities/races considered . Strong dancer. Baritone.
BABY JOHN:
18 & up to play late teens-20s. Youngest member of the Jets, awed at everything, even being a Jet, tries to act like a big man, but is not violent by nature. Highly impressionable, he is in a world where he has to grow up too fast. All ethnicities/races considered . Strong actor, strong dancer. Baritone.
A-RAB:
18 & up to play late teens-20s. Enjoys everything, takes nothing seriously, unaware, but highly explosive. Constantly on a hair trigger. Strong dancer, ideally small of stature. All ethnicities/races considered . Baritone.
BIG DEAL:
18 & up to play late teens-20s. Dangerous-seeming alpha male. Proud and arrogant. All ethnicities/races considered. Strong dancer. Baritone.
ACTION:
18 & up to play late teens-20s. Hot-tempered, bitter, and full of hate. Most aggressive member of the Jets, a cat-like ball of fury. All ethnicities/races considered. Strong actor and dancer. Baritone.
SNOWBOY:
18 & up to play late teens-20s. Bespectacled, self-styled expert; Fancies himself the smart one of the Jets. All ethnicities/races considered. Strong dancer. Baritone.
ANYBODYS:
Young woman (18 & up to play teens); Isolated, androgynous young woman who wants to be part of the Jets gang; The other Jets mock her for her ambitions, but she has more grit than fear. Full of energy and heart. All ethnicities/races considered. Strong actor, dancer and singer
PEPE:
Lieutenant to Bernardo. Proud, and righteously resentful of discrimination. Baritone.
CONSUELA:
Pepe's girl, Tough, young survivor with bleach blond hair and lots of baubles. Anita’s Cousin and Pepe's Girlfriend. Mezzo Soprano.
ROSALIA:
Indio's girl, a real sweetheart, demure and gullible. Mezzo Soprano.
GRAZIELLA, VELMA, MINNIE, PAULINE & CLARICE:
While still teenagers, these ladies are wise beyond their years and possess a sharp sense of ‘street smarts’. This combination of youthful exuberance/earnestness coupled with a ‘been there, done that’ mind-set comes across both harsh and tragic. Note: Velma is highly featured (dancing) in the MAMBO.
