Audition appointments will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis beginning at 9:00am on the morning of the audition. No appointment necessary.

SEEKING

Equity actors for roles in Vivid Stage's 2022- 23 Season (See breakdown).

Vivid Stage is actively seeking to increase our knowledge of a diverse pool of actors. Actors of all ethnicities are encouraged to attend. Although some roles are cast from our ensemble, we draw on actors we meet for productions, readings and other projects as well as future opportunities.

PREPARATION

Please prepare a brief contemporary monologue, no more than three minutes in length. Also, please bring your headshot and resume stapled together. There will be no accompanist present.

Directions to the Oakes Center, provided by the Theatre: Take NJ Transit, either bus or train, to the downtown Summit stop. Walk down Broad Street approximately ½ mile, make a right on Ashwood (dry cleaner on corner). Make first left onto Morris Avenue. Theatre is on the corner between Ashwood and Russell. Enter in the Russell Place alley on the side of the building.

SYNOPSIS: When struggling New York photographer Jennifer Evers tells her husband Christopher that the photo she took of him by his mother’s deathbed—the one he never gave her permission to take and asked her not to show anyone—was secretly entered in a very prestigious competition, it doesn’t go well.

Jennifer Evers, (CAST) around 30, Female - A fine art photographer with a wry sense of humor. Christopher Larsen, (CAST) around 30, Male - An entomologist, introverted.

Roy Phelps, (CAST) 70, Male – A retired news photographer.

Doug Windsor, (CAST) 70s, Male – A retired Air Force officer.

Nancy Windsor, (CAST) 70s, Female - Doug’s wife, haunted by the past.

SYNOPSIS: A wry and whimsical documentary musical of loss devised from interviews with real-life New Yorkers by The Civilians, the acclaimed New York-based company.

There is no breakdown of roles. It was performed by an ensemble of six actors, three men and three women.

This production is fully cast.
