Theatre's Statement: It is imperative that we assemble an ETHNICALLY DIVERSE CAST. Seeking Equity Actors of ALL ethnicities for various roles.

Preparation
Please prepare a brief classical monologue (in verse) of NO MORE THAN two (2) minutes.
Bring picture and resume.
Other Dates
Rehearsals: June 28th – July 17th (with additional selected put-in rehearsals after opening)
Performances: July 18th, 2016- August 14th, 2016 (The Battery/Battery Park, Brooklyn Bridge Park)

Breakdown
NEW YORK CLASSICAL THEATRE reinvigorates and creates audiences for the theatre by presenting free productions of popular classics and forgotten masterpieces that pop up in non-traditional public spaces throughout New York City.
It is imperative that we assemble an ETHNICALLY DIVERSE CAST. Seeking Actors of ALL ethnicities.
Note from the Director:
Many of the Bohemians will double as servants in the Sicilian Court. Midway, the play jumps 16 years and all the characters will age.
SEEKING:
LEONTES
Male, mid 30’s – mid 40’s. Any ethnicity. King of Sicilia and husband of Hermione. Regal, yet quick to temper. Handsome and introspective. He rides the tempest of emotions while beset by jealousy.
HERMIONE
Female, late 20’s – mid 30’s. Any ethnicity. Wife of Leontes and daughter of a king, strong, beautiful, commanding, intelligent and passionate. She understands compassion and is full of love, especially for her children, yet has a clear sense of justice.
MAMILLIUS
Boy, 8-10 years old. Any ethnicity. Son to Leontes and Hermione, young prince, regal, passionate, curious and magnetic.
PERDITA
Female, late teens – early 20’s. Any ethnicity. Daughter to Leontes and Hermione, young princess, but raised by Old Shepherd. Beautiful, magnetic and passionate. Her royal side comes through despite her humble surroundings. Falls in love with Florizel.
ANTIGONUS
Male, mid 40’s - mid 50’s. Any ethnicity. Husband of Paulina. Liege to Leontes, loyal and dedicated. Identifies himself with the king, and willing to do anything for him.
PAULINA
Female, late 30’s - mid 50’s. Any ethnicity. Wife of Antigonus and lady-in-waiting and confidant to Hermione. Intelligent, strong, moral. Later becomes a trusted advisor to Leontes.
CAMILLO
Male, mid 60s+. Any ethnicity. Senior counselor to Leontes who formerly served his father. He shifts his allegiance to Polixenes. Strong moral base, loyal.
POLOXENES
Male, mid 30’s – mid 40’s. Any ethnicity. King of Bohemia. Father of Florizel. Classmate and best friend of Leontes. A strong and admired leader, widower, kind. Concerned for his son.
FLORIZEL
Male, early 20s. Any ethnicity. Son of Polixenes and heir to throne of Bohemia. Rebellious and passionate yet inherently regal. Runs away from his father’s court. Falls in love with Perdita.
OLD SHEPHERD
Male, mid 60’s. Any ethnicity. A wise fool and father to Clown. Country-bumpkin. Kind, well-meaning and lovable.
CLOWN
Male, early to late 20’s. Any ethnicity. Son to Old Shepherd. Not really a clown, oblivious, sweet and tender hearted. Loves Mopsa.
AUTOLYCUS
Male, mid 30’s – mid 40’s. Any ethnicity. Con artist, trickster, thief yet, loveable. A trader in stolen property, yet with morals. A musician- must be able to sing and play a portable instrument, preferably guitar.
EMILIA/MOPSA
Female, early 20’s. Any ethnicity. Nurse to Mamillius (Sicilia). Farm maid (Bohemia). Loving, kind and energetic.
