Sides will be provided at the audition, and will be e-mailed in advance to actors who make appointments. Please bring a picture & resume, stapled back-to-back.

Seeking (all roles are available):

Simon:

African American, 50s. Former slave in the DeLeon home. Dignified and wise; a morally grounded, righteous man. A husband and a father, he has an undying loyalty to his family, of which he considers the DeLeons to be a part. Protective, nurturing and supportive, but stern and, when he needs to be, brutally honest.

Caleb:

Caucasian of Jewish descent, 20s. Only child of the DeLeon family. Former captain in the recently surrendered Confederate Army. Frightened and confused by the changes that have taken place in the world around him. Conflicted, battered and desperate.

John:

African American, 20s. Former slave in the DeLeon home. Often sarcastic and contentious, he seeks conflict at every opportunity, and uses humor as a weapon. Educated and well-spoken, with a desire to enter the world and succeed as a free man.
