BREAKDOWN
MAE
(20s-30s): Female. Heiress to a small fortune, yet uninterested in the life of riches and glamour; she dreams of giving all her money to the poor. Idealistic, intelligent, and sensible.
HENRY
(30s): Male. The Casanova of the Hamptons. In love with Mae, or perhaps just with her fortune. Charming, seductive, yet seemingly unfeeling.
RENE
(40s-50s): Female. Mae’s aunt. She has a way of making everything about herself. Prone to hysterics. Dramatic and needy, she constantly looks to others for approval and attention.
KATRINA
(20s-30s): Female. A catty friend of Mae’s who loves to gossip and spread stories.
CHARLES
(30s-50s): Male. A gay friend of Henry’s who enjoys gossiping and lusting after straight men. Cynical and jaded, with a biting wit.
REG
(30s-40s): Male. A buffoonish, alpha-male friend of Henry’s. A typical Hamptons frat boy. Loud and boisterous.
LYLE
(30s-40s): Male. Reg’s cultured and good-hearted cousin from Boston. He too comes from money yet feels like an outsider.
WAITRESS
(20s-30s): Female. A naïve young woman who enjoys rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous as she serves them cocktails. Simple and sweet but with a sly streak.
