Quiet, reserved, tough, Billy is a bit of a lost boy searching for his place in the world. Director: John Tartaglia
Choreographer: Chris Bailey
Musical Director: Rick Bertone
Rehearsal: 6/14-24
Performances: 6/25-7/2
SEEKING:
Tarzan: 20-30 yrs old. A wild ape man untainted by civilization. His curiosity has grown as his skills develop. Tarzan is very athletic & attractive. He has great integrity and a strong sense of fairness. Tarzan falls passionately in love with Jane at first sight and wonders if she is the key to unlocking his mysterious past. Tarzan should be a pop high baritone or tenor. Vocal range: B2 - Bb4

Stunt Tarzan: 20s. Seeking an attractive strong dancer with major acro skills and total fearlessness to double as Tarzan. Non-singing role.

Jane: 20s. A proper, well-bred British young lady, but a bit of a tomboy too. She is very much the turn-of-the-century independent female adventurer and scientist. Jane is an attractive ingénue with a bit of a motor mouth brought on by her fascination and passion for all the expedition has to offer. Strong pop belt with a bright youthful sound. Vocal range: F#3 - F5

Kala: 30 – 45 yrs old. A motherly ape who raises Tarzan after he loses his parents to the leopard. She is incredibly strong, even after suffering the loss of her own child. She shows a depth of emotion equal to that of any human, if not greater. Kala must have a warm sound that is more mature than Tarzan’s voice. Should understand pop phrasing. She needs be able to sing the low G in full voice but can cheat the lower notes if necessary. Vocal range: E3 - Eb5

Kerchak: 35 -50 yr old. The gruff bull-ape who leads the tribe and insists that Tarzan, even as a baby, poses a threat to the family. He is conflicted by his dedication to his mate Kala and his responsibilities as leader of the tribe. Should have a strong, authoritative presence while being able to display glimpses of tenderness. Kerchak can be a musical theater baritone but must have a big sound and commanding presence. Vocal range: Ab2 - Gb4

Porter:50-60 yr old. A British professor and gentleman who is traveling to Africa to prove his theory on the social habits of apes. A single father to Jane, he maintains his temper and demeanor to the very last moment. He offers a bit of humor through his slightly eccentric, mad-scientist enthusiasm. Porter is a baritone. Vocal range: B2 - C4

Terk:20-30 yrs old. A young adult male ape whose friendship with Tarzan has only grown stronger through the years. Other than Kala, Terk is the only ape who visits Tarzan in exile. He would like to think he knows it all and often relies on his great sense of humor. He tends to stay in one place, not growing much in life experience or knowledge. Terk is written to be a rock/pop/soul tenor with good understanding of groove and some ad-lib skills. Vocal range: Eb3 - B4

Clayton: 30-50 yrs old. A brutish British expedition guide and the villain of the show. He has been hired by Professor Porter to lead a scientific research trip but is actually planning to hunt apes for profit. Clayton is a greedy and self-centered macho male who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. This is a non-singing role.

THE ADDAMS FAMILY
Book by Marshall Brickman & Rick Elice
Music and Lyrics by Andrew Lippa
Director: Marcia Milgrom Dodge
Choreographer: Vince Pesce
Musical Director: Ben Whiteley
Rehearsals: 7/3-13
Performances: 7/14-20
Gomez Addams: 40-50s. He is a man in his prime, who adores his wife, takes great pride in his children, and is immensely proud to be an Addams. His desire for Morticia is undimmed after 20 years of marriage, and it takes very little to fire up his lust, although it appears they haven’t tango’d in quite some time. Caught between his daughter and his wife he feels completely trapped and unable to make either happy, which is his greatest joy. Must have great comedic timing, move well, and a strong tenor voice. Bflat2-G4

Morticia Addams: 35-45s. She is beautiful and aristocratic, the real head of the family and the critical and moving force behind it. She enjoys being the center of all the sexual energy in the room. The most horrible thing in the world to her would be admitting that one day, she’ll be (choke!) a grandmother. She & her daughter have a typical emotionally charged relationship. Must be a great dancer who is funny and sings well, alto/mezzo soprano. G3-Bflat5

Uncle Fester: 35s–50s. Child-like, hugely enthusiastic and totally incorrigible. A vaudevillian, needs strong comedy and tenor voice. C3-C5

Grandma: 30s–60s to play Ancient. Good natured with her family and likes to play a joke or two. Character singer with strong humor. G4-F5

Pugsley Addams: CASTING LOCALLY

Lurch: 30-60s. Seeking actors at least 6’ tall – the taller the better! A man of very, very few words, often spoken at half speed. Most of what he utters is long, plaintive groans, some tinged with irony or exasperation. Must have a TRUE low bass voice. Eflat2-E4

Mal Beinecke: 45–50. A man with little patience for his wife and son. Thinks the Addams’ are beyond strange and does not want to spend time having dinner with them, much less be related. Ultimately finds his fun former self and reconnects with his wife & son. Musical theater bari-tenor. C3-A4

Alice Beinecke: early 40s. A devoted mother who deeply loves her husband and allows him to take charge. However, they don’t communicate what they are feeling deep inside, so Alice has taken to expressing her thoughts in rhyme. When she finally lets her feelings out she refuses to back down from the changes she needs Mal to make. Must be very funny and sing well. A flat3-G sharp5

Lucas Beinecke: 18+. Wednesday’s secret fiancé who’s not sure what he wants to do with his life. Unable to be impulsive unless he thinks about it first. Fell in love with Wednesday at first sight. A great pop/rock singer. C3-C5

Mayzie Labird: 20s-40s. Mazie is the diva bird of the jungle with a fabulous multi-feathered tail. Oblivious to her self-centered ways, she relies on her talent of manipulation, and intoxicating beauty, to navigate her way through life. She abandons her egg to Horton’s care and ultimate realizes she won’t make as good of a mother as he does. Range: G3 - Eb5

The Sour Kangaroo: 20s-40s. Loud, brassy, and stubbornly set in her ways she is very vocal about her concern for her child and the jungle at large should Horton continue to protect the Whos. Unabashedly sassy and soulful.
