BREAKDOWN

BERNARD

Male, Mid-Late 30's, African-American. He is a gambler with a heart of gold, and a seemingly endless capacity for forgiveness. His outlook on the world is hopeful and optimistic, even in the face of tragedy.

VIJAY

Male, Mid-Late 30's, Indian-American. The first-born son, he was the golden child who did everything right. Now, there's a chip on his shoulder because of all the ways his life didn't shake out the way he had hoped. His capacities for love and grief are profound, but he struggles to forgive.

PRIYA

Female, Early-Mid 30's, Indian-American. Vijay's younger sister. Her life has had ups and downs, and it has made her scrappy and resourceful. Though her actions might seem callous at times, they are born of a well-honed set of survival skills.
