SEEKING

AEA and non-Equity actors for various roles. Seeking a very diverse range of ethnicity in our actors. All roles are paid.

PREPARATION

One (1) 32-bar song that shows both vocal skill and range. Please bring sheet music in the appropriate key. No lead sheets please. An accompanist will be provided. No recorded accompaniment or a cappella singing will be allowed.

BREAKDOWN

QUASIMODO
(Male 20-29): Deformed and reclusive, longs to see the outside world, but staunchly loyal to his master, Frollo; possesses great vulnerability, but covers a deep well of pain and rage, this actor will be physically representing Quasimodo’s deformity, much like in An Elephant Man, therefore actors submitted for this role must be dexterous and flexible; strong tenor, Bb 2 to C5.

FROLLO
(Male 50-59): Archdeacon of Notre Dame, a severe man who is convinced of his own goodness and righteousness, struggles with the conflict between the self denial required by his religious belief and his strong sexual desire for Esmeralda, this struggle ultimately drives him mad; baritone with a rich lower register, F2 to F4.

ESMERALDA
(Female 20-29): Exquisitely beautiful, exotic and oozing with sexuality, a free -spirited gypsy who has often gotten into trouble for speaking her mind and standing up for what she believes in; mezzo, E3 to Eb 5.

PHOEBUS
(Male 30-39): Dashing captain of the Cathedral Guard, leading man type who is conflicted between following his duty and doing what’s right; tenor, C3 to A4.

CLOPIN
(Male 30-49): A great character man with flair, The King of the Gypsies; high tenor, C3 to Bb 4.

SIX (6) MEN
Fantastic singing voices of all ethnicities. These men should be all ages and sizes.
The ensemble men will play featured roles, townspeople, priests, gargoyles, gypsies, soldiers, etc.

FOUR (4) WOMEN:
Fantastic singing voices of all ethnicities. These women should be all ages and sizes. The ensemble women will play featured roles, townspeople, priests, gargoyles, gypsies, soldiers, etc.
