APPOINTMENTS

AEA members please email to auditions@gammtheatre.org. In your email, please offer a time block of 2 hours on one of the days. We will reply with a specific slot. EMAIL IS PREFERRED. If you do not have email, however, please call 401-723-4266 x152. AEA members without appointments seen as time permits. Non-Equity actors may also be seen as time permits.

CONTRACT

NEAT Minimum weekly salary for equity actors is $425. Minimum weekly salary for equity stage managers is $509.

SEEKING

Equity actors for various roles in the upcoming 2017- Season.

PREPARATION

Each performer will be allotted a minimum of 3 minutes and a maximum of 5 minutes. We ask that all performers prepare a 1-2 minute monologue of their choice. Only Equity Performers may choose to read from a script. The Gamm will provide sides and a reader. AEA members who wish to read a side may prepare their own and either provide us with a copy for the reader or let us know upon check–in the scene/page numbers so we may be prepared to assist you.

Please also provide a copy of your headshot/resume at the time of your audition. Two copies of each play will be available at Stage Source's Boston office, 15 Channel Center, Ste. 103, Boston, Mass., at least 10 days before the audition for Equity members' perusal. Copies will also be available at the auditions.

Founded in 1984 as Alias Stage, the non-profit Sandra Feinstein-Gamm Theatre creates the finest of live theater, engaging the audience intensely in current and recurrent issues of consequence. The Gamm further serves the public with educational outreach programming designed to support the theatrical experience, and help sustain and enhance the intellectual and cultural life of its community.

An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of this audition.

Jack Worthing: 20’s -30’s, bright, articulate, smart, in a desperate situation.

Algernon Moncrieff: 20’s -30’s, Jack’s best friend, louche, witty, whip smart.

Gwendolyn Fairfax: 20’s-30’s, headstrong, smart, demanding.

Cecily: 20’s, Jack’s ward, bright, determined.

Rev. Chasuble: 40’s-50’s, a local vicar.

Miss Prism: Cecily’s governess.

Lady Bracknell: 40’s-50’s, imperious, razor sharp, commanding, precise.

*All actors need to be able to play a range of ages 20’s-50’s and have a great facility with dialect, and quick physical transformation. Each actor will play 4-6 roles. Characters never leave the stage and scenes change in an instant. Dialects include various American, British, and German.

Rehearsals begin December 12, 2017. Runs January 11-February 11, 2018
Seeking:

Voynitsky (Uncle Vanya):
47, manic -depressive, great sense of humor and acute self pity. Articulate and coming apart.

Serebryakov: Mid-50’s+, a lifelong academic, on his last legs. Vanya’s brother-in-law and executor of the estate.

Yelena: Serebryakov’s much younger wife. Bored and searching.

Sonya: Vanya’s niece, a young woman, idealistic and self-sacrificing.

Marina: An old peasant woman, Sonya’s nanny.

Astrov: Late 30’s-40’s, a country doctor, dedicated, tired, pessimistic.

Telegin (Waffles): 40’s+, the family’s neighbor and frequent visitor. Oddly optimistic and sensitive.

Mariya Vassilevna: Vanya’s Mother, quietly fierce, intellectual.

Pumla Gobodo-Madizikela: Early 40’s, black, South African, a psychologist, courageous, intelligent searching. Serving the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in the wake of the dismantling of apartheid.

Eugene De Kock: Late 40’s-50, white, South African (Afrikaner), a former police colonel nicknamed “Prime Evil” sentenced to 200+years in prison for torture and extra-judicial murder during apartheid.

Rosalind: Young woman, fiercely intelligent, passionate, funny, brave, one of Shakepeare’s most sublime and complex characters.

Celia: Free spirited and smart, Rosalind’s cousin.

Orlando: A brave, passionate young man, in love with Rosalind.

Oliver: Orlando’s brother.

Adam: A faithful servant to Orlando, very old.

Duke Frederick: A corrupted tyrant who exiled his brother Duke Senior.

Duke Senior: Contemplative, compassionate a leader of the opposition.

Jaques: Among Senior’s community, a melancholy and philosophical spirit.

Touchstone: A fool who exiles himself from court with Rosalind.

Phoebe: A smitten, funny and cruel shepherdess.

Silvius: Phoebe’s rejected suitor.

Corin: A shepherd.

Audrey: A shepherdess pursued by Touchstone.
