Adult musical theatre performers for 2017-2018 season.

PREPARATION

Prepare 2 contrasting musical theatre songs, from the show(s) if possible. Please bring 2 headshots and resumes.

HOT MIKADO

Mikado: The big cat of Japan. An ardent stickler for the law, and a ruler who finds humor in every situation even when it is unjust or absurd. Loves a good show and is quite a showman and tapper himself.

Nanki-poo: The son of the Mikado. A fresh-faced rock crooner. Runs away from his father and the high court and pretends to be a wandering minstrel who plays the trumpet with lots of energy but little finesse.

Yum-yum: The ward of Titipu's Lord High Executioner and engaged to marry him. She loves Nanki-Poo. Pretty with a great figure. Honest.

Pitti-sing: Yum-Yum's sister. Very matter-of-fact. Protective of her sister, and isn't afraid to stand up to Katisha.

Peep-bo: Yum-Yum's Sister. Cynical and sarcastic. Has the most attitude of all three sisters.

Pish-tush: The coolest Gentleman of Japan. Thinks himself overly important when doing the Mikado's bidding. High-strung. Rash.

Ko-ko: Lord High Executioner. Was given his title the night before he was to be put to death for flirting. He has never killed anything in his life. An all-around nice guy.

Pooh-bah: Lord High's everything else. Took over all the offices of State when everyone else quit. Clever, money-hungry and selfish. Ko-Ko's right hand man.

Katisha: Nanki-Poo's spurned and subsequently angry suitor. An oversexed femme fatale with a plain face. Threatens to tell everyone of Nanki-Poo's real identity to ruin his engagement to Yum-Yum.

ZOMBIES FROM THE BEYOND

Trenton Corbett: Handsome Leading Man. All-American hero, heroic “Clark Kent” type. Trustworthy, honest brave, and ambitious. Egghead scientist with charm to spare.

Rick Jones: “Noir” Leading Man. Shifty, sexy, aloof, and sly; a military high-ranker who’s actually a red agent. Does brief fake Russian accent. Sings “Rock ‘n Roll” mid 50s style.

Billy Krutzik: Juvenile comic. Spunky, enthusiastic, and genuine, a tap dancing delivery boy who the audience loves at first sight.
Age: 20-30
Vocal Range: Tenor or high baritone

Major Malone: Character actor/ Older Leading Man. Square-jawed, no nonsense military man, warmly paternal; a benevolent Esienhower-esque presence.
Age: 40-55
Vocal Range: Bass baritone

Mary Malone: Leading Lady. Major Malone’s daughter, amateur scientist and all around genius. Strong, smart, altogether lovely and genuine. The perfect 50s woman, but with an edge.

Vocal Range: Soprano/ belt mix

Charlene “Charlie” Osmanski: Comic Soubrette. Wise-cracking, man hungry secretary with lots and lots of heart.

Zombina: Comic character actress. Buxom alien aviatrix on the prowl for human males.

URINETOWN
Officer Lockstock: The tongue-in-cheek narrator of our story, he is a corrupt policeman who secretly kills off the guilty offenders. Bold, brash, and larger than life in many ways.

Penelope Pennywise: The tough, jaded warden of the poorest, filthiest town urinal. She is Cladwell's one-time lover and mother to Hope who eventually softens her temper.

Bobby Strong: The dashing, rebellious everyman who works for Miss Pennywise at the poorest, filthiest town urinal. He becomes an unsuspecting protagonist and romantic hero when he starts a revolution and falls in love with Hope Cladwell.

Little Sally: A precocious and irreverent street urchin. She serves as a quasi-narrator who often questions Lockstock and the play's logic.

Officer Barrel: Lockstock's patrol partner. A thuggish and aggressive policeman.

Hope Cladwell: Cladwell's ravishingly beautiful daughter, torn between her father and her new love for Bobby. She begins as an innocent, naive angel but becomes vengeful and determined after being exposed to her father's evil.

Joseph Old Man Strong: Bobby's rebellious father. His refusal to pay the fee sends him to Urinetown, ultimately launching the revolution. Doubles as HOT BLADES HARRY: One of the Poor, he is a psychopathic and can become a violent loose cannon.

Soupy Sue: One of the Poor, she is excitable and easily panicked. Doubles as CALDWELL'S SECRETARY.

Little Becky Two-shoes: One of the Poor. She is foul-mouthed, impulsive, and accusatory. Doubles as MRS. MILLENIUM.

Caldwell B. Cladwell: The evil president and owner of the Urine Good Company. He is a miserly money-grubber who gleefully exploits the poor.

Josephine ma Strong: Bobby's mother and Joseph's wife. A strong-willed woman with a bite, able to withstand the hard hand life has dealt her. Doubles as OLD WOMAN.
