BREAKDOWN

Henrietta Leavitt – Female, 30s. Fiercely smart, meticulous, curious, energetic, spilling over her own traditionalism. Driven by her thirst for knowledge. What lies out there in the universe and what is our place in it?

Margaret Leavitt – Female, 30s. Devoted homebody, creative, sweet, sacrificing sister to Henrietta. Caring for family and father back home. Sings. Piano playing, a plus.

Peter Shaw – Male, 30s. Head astronomer’s apprentice watching over the work of the women. Comfortable in scientific world. Not as much in social circles. Can be bumbling and awkward expressing emotions. Attracted to Henrietta.

Annie Cannon – Female, 40s. The leader and current supervisor of the ladies at Harvard Observatory. Terse and sure, grows into a firebrand, becoming active in women’s rights movement. No nonsense but with good heart and great spirit.

Willamina Fleming – Female, 50s. Smart as a whip and fun, Scottish. Wry wit, good natured, caring instincts and hearty stock. Began as a maid in boss' household. Became first supervisor of the ladies at Harvard Observatory. Brogue dialect.
