Breakdown

2015 Season with available roles:

CLYBOURNE PARK
by Bruce Norris
Director: James Glossman
1st reh: May 12, 2015; Runs May 29 – June 14.
Seeking:

Man #1:
ACT ONE (1959): Russ, white, 40s. Limited by his experience, but trying to reach past this & do the best he can for everybody. Suspects life will not turn out well.
ACT TWO (2009): Dan. Handyman/contractor. Works with his hands and pretty happy about it.

Woman #1:
ACT ONE (1959): Bev, white, 40s, married to Russ. Going to MAKE everything come out all right, if she has anything to say about it.
ACT TWO (2009): Kathy. Businesslike but friendly. Knows how to make everything work out: by knowing everything about everything.

Woman #2:
ACT ONE (1959): Francine, black, 20s/30s. Works for Russ and Bev. Knows everybody's business, and does the best she can to take care of her own.
ACT TWO (2009): Lena. A professional. Knows if you let yourself get walked even once, that's IT.

Man #2:
ACT ONE (1959): Jim, white, 20s. Young, forward-looking, and relentlessly naive minister. Gee-gosh-golly, we're gonna make things work out, darnit!
ACT TWO (2009): Tom. Trying to take charge because SOMEONE OF GOOD INTENT NEEDS TO! "Fair is fair." Worries that everyone else including his wife might just be smarter than he is.
ALSO IN ACT TWO [briefly in 1957 flashback]: Kenneth. Kathy & Russ's son. About to end his life. Gentle and loves music, but this is not enough.

Man #3:
ACT ONE (1959): Albert, black, 30s. Married to Francine. Sees what's going on around him, notices, but doesn't push the envelope---so that everyone stays happy enough. White people?---what are you going to do.
ACT TWO (2009): Kevin. Married to Lena. Knows his job is largely to keep the peace around his Type-A wife, but finally enough is enough with these clueless carpetbaggers.!

Woman #3:
ACT ONE (1959): Betsy, white, 20s. Deaf. Sweet as pie. Married to Karl, who is older than she is; and she will be the PERFECT WIFE AND NEIGHBORHOOD CITIZEN, whatever it takes.
ACT TWO (2009): Lindsey. Married to Steve. Very pregnant. Wants a lot of things, and intents to get them all. Very New-Age-empathy exterior, over entirely entitled interior. No sense of humor whatsoever.

Man #4:
ACT ONE (1959): Karl, white, 30s/40s. Head of the Neighborhood Association (and the only character we share with A Raisin in the Sun). Has no idea in the world that he is a racist---but people will only be happy if "we draw lines!"
ACT TWO (2009): Steve. Married to Lindsey. Always running to keep up---why can't being educated be enough!?
