Seeking:

Satchel Paige:
Black baseball player 43, tall, charismatic, a star pitcher in spite of his age.

Buck O'Neil:
Black ballplayer, 36, a solid figure, a good friend. Will eventually make history as a coach.

Bob Feller:
White ballplayer, 32, the most famous pitcher in the major leagues, an American hero.

Art Young:
Black ballplayer 19. Originally from Georgia, tremendously talented but cocky. Impatient. Wants acceptance into the major leagues badly.

Franky Palmieri:
White ballplayer. Italian-American, also tremendously talented and already a rookie playing in the major leagues.

Mrs. Hughes:
Black woman in her late 40s; owner of a boarding house. She beautiful, cultured, a famous singer; the extremely well-spoken embodiment of the black bougeoisie.
