CONTRACT LOA-NYC$400/week for actors in one show and $600/week for actors in both shows (pending AEA approval)


SEEKING Equity actors for roles in one or both of the following productions being performed in rotating repertory: PICNIC and COME BACK LITTLE SHEBA. See breakdown. NOTE: Non-Caucasian actors are especially encouraged to audition as it is our hope to cast many of these roles non-traditionally.


PREPARATION Prepare either a brief dramatic or comedic monologue, from any 20th century American playwright. Bring picture and resume.

In “Come Back, Little Sheba”: Lola, Doc, Marie, Mrs. Coffman, Milkman/Postman/Telegram Deliverer
In “Picnic”: Flo, Rosemary, Millie, Howard

NOTE: Non-Caucasian actors are especially encouraged to audition as it is our hope to cast many of these roles non-traditionally.

ACTOR 1:
Male. Will play both Hal in “Picnic” and Turk in “Come Back, Little Sheba.” Age range: 25-30.
Hal: Exceedingly handsome, drifter, a young man desperately wanting to fit in somewhere, tough exterior with fragile interior. Non-Caucasian actors especially encouraged to audition.
Turk: Young, husky, good-looking boy. He has the openness, the generosity, vigor and health of youth. He’s had a little time in the service but is not what one would call disciplined. He’s the type of boy who always enters unannounced. Non-Caucasian actors especially encouraged to audition.

ACTOR 2:
Male. Will play both Alan in “Picnic” and Bruce in “Come Back, Little Sheba.” Age range: 25-30.
Alan: Smart, polished, wealthy appearance and upbringing, college friend of Hal’s, in awe of Madge. Non-Caucasian actors especially encouraged to audition.
Bruce: Marie’s hometown, clean-cut fiancé. A recent college graduate enthusiastically on his way with his first job, eager to marry Marie and move away to start his new life with her. Non-Caucasian actors especially encouraged to audition.


ACTOR 3:
Male. Will play Bomber in “Picnic.” Age: 15.
Bomber: A newsboy in his teens, smart-mouthed, bully, picks on Millie, worships Madge. Non-Caucasian actors especially encouraged to audition.


ACTOR 4:
Male. Will play Elmo in “Come Back, Little Sheba.” Age range: 45-60.
Elmo: Middle-aged businessman. Experienced AA man. Ed’s number one helper--Caring but very pragmatic. Non-Caucasian actors especially encouraged to audition.


ACTOR 5:
Male. Will play Ed in “Come Back, Little Sheba.” Age range: 45-60.
Ed: Middle-aged businessman. Experienced AA man. Empathetic but matter-of-fact and realistic. He has developed the surgeon’s objectivity. Able to see the irony in even the most tragic of situations. Non-Caucasian actors especially encouraged to audition.


ACTOR 6:
Female: Will play Madge in “Picnic.” Age range: 20-25.
Madge: An unusually beautiful girl of eighteen who seems to take her beauty very much for granted. Searching for escape from small town life. Non-Caucasian actors especially encouraged to audition.


ACTOR 7:
Female. Will play Christine in “Picnic.” Age range: 30-40.
Christine: School teacher, somewhat shy, quiet, looks up to Irma and Rosemary. Non-Caucasian actors especially encouraged to audition.


ACTOR 8:
Female. Will play Irma in “Picnic.” Age range: 30-40.
Irma: School teacher, loud, enjoys her single-life, funny, jokester when around Rosemary. Non-Caucasian actors especially encouraged to audition.
