Polly Wyeth:
Female, Caucasian , 60’s. Married to Lyman. Stalwart, stylish, a conservative Hollywood script-writer. She is a staunch Republican from the inner circle of the Reagans. Sharp-witted, unsentimental. She is a fully assimilated Jew who practices few, if any, Jewish traditions. Fiercely protective of her children. Tight, brittle with layers of emotional depth and complexity.
Silda Grauman:
Female, Caucasian, 60’s. Polly’s sister. Politically left wing. She is Jewish, and in contrast to her sister Polly, very comfortable being Jewish. She is a recovering alcoholic just out of rehab who is embittered, has unforgiving moral judgment of others, but is not without warmth. Her humor is often self-deprecating and comes in gushes until issues get too close to the bone.
Lyman Wyeth:
Male, Caucasian, 60’s. Married to Polly. Affable yet controlled, he is a diplomat from the inner circle of the Reagans. A WASP, Hollywood actor. Now retired, he carries deep sorrow but has a steel core.
Brooke Wyeth :
Female, Caucasian, 40’s. Polly and Lyman’s daughter. An enlightened artist who is recovering from prolonged writer’s block and a nervous breakdown. Easy with humor, Brooke also wields an assassin’s knife when cornered. Has a deep reserve of emotion. Attractive yet dry.
Trip Wyeth:
Male, Caucasian, mid to late 30’s. Polly and Lyman’s son. An apolitical and flippant producer of a silly reality T.V. show. He plays the clown sometimes but has a lurking vulnerability and disjointedness that erupts into some deep truths.
