Prepare a brief musical theatre song which best shows your personality and abilities. Have a brief second song prepared, if asked. Bring sheet music, in the correct key, as an accompanist will be provided.

Have your picture and resume stapled together, back to back.

Female, African-American, 25-40. Disco diva wannabe with a mega-watt dream of Donna Summer-eque glory. Mouthy, ballsy, brassy, and quick on the quip— has no faith in anything or anyone but herself. POWERHOUSE DISCO DIVA VOCALIST.

MOTHER SUPERIOR
Female, Caucasian, 45-65. Old-school Catholic traditionalist with a spine of steel, a will of iron, an acid tongue, and a hidden heart. STRONG UNWAVERING ALTO OR MEZZO.

CURTIS JACKSON
Male, African-American, late 30s-50. Super cool, super confident, super smooth bad guy with soul. He is a tough narcissist with flair, sex appeal, and charisma. Elegant and dangerous. Needs to be extremely strong-voiced with big range. LOW BARITONE WITH STRONG DISCO FALSETTO.

LT. EDDIE SOUTHER
Male, African-American, 25-45. A Desk Cop. Charming and straightforward, but his gun is locked in a drawer, as it were. BEAUTIFUL HIGH BARITONE OR TENOR.

SISTER MARY ROBERT
Female, Caucasian, 18-25. Young and timid novitiate, teetering on the decision of whether to take her final vows or leave the convent to rejoin the world that intimidates her so. Her shy personality masks a huge, powerful singing voice. Sings a big Act II solo, "The Life I Never Led." SHOULD HAVE AN “UNEXPECTEDLY” HUGE BELT, ALONG WITH A LEGIT/MIX UP TO THE RAFTERS.

SISTER MARY PATRICK
Female, Caucasian, 25-45. Upbeat, corny, fun, and filled with love and delight in God, food, and friendship. Loyal sister and head cheerleader always ready for an adventure, a life experience, or between-meal snack. Has a heavyset physique. STRONG BELTER WITH LEGIT

SISTER MARY LAZARUS
Female, Caucasian, 50s-early 70s. Tough, out of the Depression Era, full of vinegar and humor, with twice the energy of anyone half her age. She's seen them come and go, and nothing fazes this Sister. Quick on the wisecracks and always ready to roll up her sleeves and dig in. Must be a strong comedic actress. STRONG BELTER WITH LEGIT.

MONSIGNOR O'HARA
Male, Caucasian, 50s-60s. Stately but benevolent, with a "Going My Way" twinkle. Strong character actor. BARITONE.

TJ
Male, African-American, 20s-40s. Curtis' nephew. Undersized, overeager young man who would do anything to please his uncle, much to his uncle’s dismay. Well-intended, but doesn’t always have the brain power to think ahead. Must have comic chops. TENOR WITH STRONG DISCO FALSETTO

JOEY
Male, Caucasian, 30s – 40s. Big, burly, and fiercely loyal. He is the heavyset one of the trio. Joey fancies himself a master in the ways of lovemaking. Must have comic chops. BARITONE WITH STRONG DISCO FALSETTO

PABLO
Male, Latino, 20-35. Curtis' bodyguard who keeps mouthing off in Spanish. Must have comic chops. BARITONE or TENOR WITH STRONG DISCO FALSETTO.

BILLIE BENDIX
mid 20s - early 30s: Tough, clever, feisty and street-wise young woman. Partners in rum running with her best friends, Cookie and Duke. She has always lived in a mans world until she meets Jimmy, a millionaire playboy and falls in love. Must be a skilled farceur. Very appealing, attractive and underneath her tough veneer; must have a strong sense of vulnerability. Strong Mover/Dancer. CHEST MIX.

COOKIE MCGEE
early 30s - mid 40s: Fast-talking, wise-cracking bootlegger. He can talk anyone into or out of anything. Mistaken for Jimmy’s butler and has to keep up the charade. Actor must understand old fashioned vaudeville style comedy a la Abbott and Costello. CHARACTER BARITONE.

ESTONIA DULWORTH, THE DUCHESS OF WOODFORD
40s - late 50s: Upper-class, bejeweled dowager. Fervent prohibitionist but underneath there is a wild spirit just waiting to be freed. STRONG MIX & LEGIT SOPRANO.

EILEEN EVERGREEN
late 20s - mid 30s: Lush and lovely, she is the self-proclaimed finest interpreter of modern dance in the world as well as being spoiled rotten and completely self-involved. Jimmy’s fiancée and Senator Evergreen’s daughter. A dish with great comic skills. Strong Mover. STRONG MIX. LEGIT HEAD VOICE A PLUS.

JEANNIE MULDOON
mid 20s: Lovely, sexy, chorus girl from Brooklyn who falls in love with Duke, who she thinks is the Duke of England. Still loves him for who he is once she finds out the truth. They are the perfect couple, not too bright but winning. Strong Dancer. STRONG BELTER

DUKE MAHONEY
early 30s - mid 40s: Cookie’s sidekick. Not the brightest guy around. Very shy with women. By circumstance he must pass himself off as the Duke of England. Falls in love with the beautiful sexy chorus girl, Jeannie Muldoon. He is the dim but sweet stooge, paired with Cookie. The brawn to Cookie’s brains. BARITONE.

SENATOR MAX EVERGREEN
50s - 60s: Eileen’s father. A humorless career politician. Stuffy, stern and judgmental. Very distinguished looking. In his youth was in love with Millicent Winter, Jimmy’s mother. NON-SINGING ROLE.

CHIEF BERRY
mid 30s - 40s: Chief of the Long Island Police Department. Fiercely, and to a fault, dedicated to his job. Seems gruff on the outside. BARITONE.

MILLICENT WINTER
50s- 60s: Jimmy’s mother. She is “Auntie Mame”; full of life with absolutely no pretenses even though she is unbelievably rich. Lives life to the fullest. Has sex appeal. We find out she made all of her money as a rum runner. In her youth was in love with The Senator. NON-SINGING ROLE

DREW DILLENBECK
Young, 20s, handsome rocker. Has great comedic timing. Desperately wants to be a rocker, but works as a bar back at the famous “Rock of Ages” club on the Sunset Strip until his dreams, however unrealistic, come true. STRONG ROCK TENOR

SHERRIE CHRISTIAN
Young, 20s, pretty Caucasian girl. Left her Midwestern family to pursue stardom in Los Angeles. Innocent, naïve with great comedic timing. Should be a strong mover. STRONG ROCK VOICE

LONNY BARNETT
Middle-aged guy with very strong comedic timing. Our narrator; has a slightly unflattering appearance but doesn’t see it. STRONG ROCK VOICE

DENNIS DUPREE
40s. Older guy who runs the famous “Rock of Ages” club on the Sunset Strip. Caught between a rock and a hard place when German business men pressure him to sell his club. Possibly heavyset with very strong comedic timing.

STACEE JAXX
Rock Star. Middle-Aged, Caucasian and very sexy. At the top of his game and just left his very successful metal rock band to venture out on his own. Has very strong comedic timing. Arrogant and charming, his life is a merry-go-round of good old sex, drugs and rock-n-roll. STRONG ROCK VOICE

JUSTICE CHARLIER
40-50. Older commanding African-American woman who runs the strip club where Sherrie ends up when the going gets rough. Sultry, maternal and a sexy madam. STRONG BELTER

HERTZ KLINEMANN
Uptight, 40-60. Older German businessman who is looking to take over Sunset Strip. Our villain. Needs to have a commanding presence with a strong voice and great comedic timing. Needs to have a good German accent.

FRANZ KLINEMANN
20-30s. Young foppish German who is pressured by his father to work for his business. Small, shy with a good voice; strong comedic timing.

REGINA
20-40s. A granola girl who has strong comedic timing. Hilarious, tree-hugging fighter who will stop at nothing to protect the Sunset Strip

VICTOR/VICTORIA GRANT
(Late 20’s-Late 30’s): Charismatic actress capable of playing both a woman and a man convincingly. Victoria is really a woman pretending to be a man, performing as a female impersonator. She becomes a star but at the cost of possibly losing the man she loves by not revealing the truth. Physically fit, slender and strong mover/dancer. STRONG ALTO MIX / BELTER. MUST HAVE STRONG LEGIT VOICE, AS WELL.

TODDY
(Early 40’s-Late 50’s): A charismatic gay cabaret entertainer. He has charm, style and wit as well as a warm and loving heart. He has the bright idea of passing off Victoria as a man in public and helps her become the world’s greatest female impersonator. This is a truly bravura part which requires an actor of great style. BARITONE.

KING MARCHAN
(Mid 30’s – Late 40’s): A macho, handsome leading man. Tough gangster from Chicago with street smarts. He cannot help having strong romantic feelings for Victor which confuses him. Ultimately Victoria reveals herself and there is a happy ending. Strong BROADWAY BARITONE

NORMA CASSIDY
(Early 20’s- Early 30’s): King’s loud mouth “gun moll” from Chicago complete with a nasal Chicago accent. She is over sexed to say the least. Not the brightest bulb except when it comes to men. Everything in pants is fair play. She is the star entertainer at King’s Chicago night club. Actress must be sexy and dance well. STRONG BROADWAY BELTER.

SQUASH BERNSTEIN
(30-50): King’s bodyguard. A former football fullback and the last person in the world who you think would turn out to be a sweet, gay “bear” that falls in love with Toddy. BARITONE.

ANDRE CASSELL
(40-65): Paris’ most famous agent/producer and nightclub owner. He is theatrical and flamboyant in everything he does.

HENRI LABISSE
(40- Early 50’s): An over curious small time night club owner who fires Toddy and rejects Victoria. He tries to steal them back at all costs once they become successful. Actor must have expert physical comic skills.

20, extremely beautiful Brooklyn Italian. Projects overconfidence and pretension but is really a simple girl trying to be more than what she came from. Must be genuinely likable. Believable Brooklyn accent. Killer voice and very strong dancer. MEZZO with belt to D

25 – 30. Tony’s brother. Brooklyn Itialian, genuine, paternal, spiritual energy. Believable Brooklyn accent, strong mover with a strong pop/rock voice. TENOR

18 – 20, awkward Brooklyn Italian. One of “the Faces” (Tony’s gang). Insecure and needy. A troubled soul who tries too hard. Believable Brooklyn accent, strong mover with a show-stopping pop voice. TENOR

18 – 20, attractive Brooklyn, Innocent, insecure, needy. She tries to mask her vulnerability with toughness. Believable Brooklyn accent. Strong dancer with show-stopping voice. MEZZO with belt to Eb

18 – 25. Cute Brooklyn Italian. One of “the Faces” (Tony’s gang). Bumbling klutz, a little befuddled. A follower. Believable Brooklyn accent. Strong dancer with good pop voice. BARI-TENOR

18 – 25. (Tony cover) handsome Brooklyn Italian lady’s man. One of “the Facres” (Tony’s gang). Genuinely tough guy, cocky, a criminal in the making. Believable Brooklyn accent. Strong dancer with a good pop voice. BARI-TENOR

40 – 60. Tony’s Brooklyn Italian mother. Opinionated, devout Catholic. Movement a plus. MEZZO

FRANK MANERO SR./ MONTY
40 – 60, versatile actor/singer/dancer to play two roles. Monty – handsome womanizing, high-energy, DJ with a genuinely likable nod to 60’s free-spirited sexuality.
