SEEKING:

AARON
35-55, Male. Teaches clarinet for a living but fancies himself a pro, although his talent is limited. In contrast to Gil, he’d kill for a chance at the big time and has tremendous passion for music. Second Tenor.

ABE MITGANG
early 50s to mid 60s, male. The owner and proprietor of Paradise Manor, as well as being a frustrated stand-up comedian. Basically a decent guy…until his back is up against the wall. Baritone.

ARTHUR
35-55, Male. A dentist who lives with his ailing mother and has a non-existent social life…until Paradise Manor. Modest, naïve, and charming. He plays drums. First or Second Tenor.

DONNA
Late 30s, female. Waitress at Paradise Manor who is not nearly as seasoned in the game of love as she is at waiting tables. Mezzo.

GEORGIE/VINCE
35-55, Male. GEORGIE: Owner of a deli/convenience store and the bass player. Forthright, down-to-earth, a realist. For reasons later disclosed, he’s unable to go to the Catskills. High Baritone. VINCE AMATI – Ricki’s shady manager and boyfriend. He should be physically threatening. Doesn’t sing.

GIL
35-55, Male. Once a pro trumpet player but married into wealth and works for his father-in-law’s real estate firm. Ladies’ man who lacks the inner fire to stick with music on a serious level. High baritone.

JACK
35-55, Male. Works on Wall Street and plays piano in the band. Very uptight, educated, afraid of being open with his wife regarding his musical passion. Follows in his father’s footsteps and is unfulfilled. Baritone.

LUCY
28-35, female. Waitress at Paradise Manor who is not nearly as seasoned in the game of love as she is at waiting tables. Lucy is younger (28-35) and less aggressive. Mezzo-soprano.

MARSHALL
35-55, Male, African-American. Georgie’s replacement on the gig. A bass player who is a pro, and played with the greatest jazz musicians ever. He is well-read, worldly, and a recluse: he’s not happy being among amateurs. Bass-Baritone.

MARTY
35-55, Male. Gregarious self-appointed leader of the band and the one who gets the idea to book the group at a Catskill resort. A used car salesman who puts his hot air to good use playing trombone. Although he has a rocky relationship with his son and his second wife, he is extremely loyal to his friends. Baritone.

MISS RICKI VALENTINE
50s, female. Ricki is a fading songstress who is hoping to make a big comeback at Paradise Manor. Although she appears to be attractive and personable from afar, a closer examination reveals she’s hard and insecure. Mezzo with good belt.

Music/ Lyrics: Cardozie Jones and Sean Willis

Rehearsal on or after 6/16. Performances: TBA (between 7/7-7/27)

SYNOPSIS: Madame Infamy tells the story of Marie Antoinette, last Queen of France, and Sally Hemings, the American slave known for her intimate ties to President Thomas Jefferson. Though their circumstances could not be more different, their paths are parallel and footsteps intersect as they navigate the complexities of freedom, destiny and choice. Through promises to men, mothers, children, country and themselves, each woman must come to terms with who she is, and who she is meant to be.

SEEKING:

Sally Hemings

When it comes to family, however, she is easily moved and extremely passionate. Must be able to portray a wide range of emotion throughout the show as we follow Sally from a young teenage girl to an older woman. Must have a powerful high-belt and have vocal stamina as she carries the show vocally.

Marie Antoinette
Female, Caucasian, Age Range: 16-40s, Last Queen of France. Though she becomes Queen at an early age, she is quirky, sometimes inappropriate, spirited and always kind. Eager to please, she is often the victim of her own naiveté. She spends a great deal of her time striving to be the leader her mother was but seems ill-equipped to hold such responsibility. Must be able to portray a wide range of emotion throughout the show as we follow Sally from a young teenage girl to an older woman. Must have a powerful high-belt and have vocal stamina as she carries the show vocally.

Thomas Jefferson
Male, Caucasian, Age Range: 40s-60s, Third President of the United States. Known for being thoughtful, fair and kind to those he cares for. He struggles to hide his inner conflicts and thus avoids confrontation at all costs. Though an older man, there is a charming and attractive youthfulness to him; Baritone.

Louis XVI
Male, Caucasian, Age Range: 16-40s, King of France. Though he is a king, he is not kingly. He also took the throne at a young age. He is shy and sometimes awkward. He is also endearing and wants to do right by his people. Baritone/Tenor.

James Hemings
Male, African Descent, Age Range: 25-35, Sally’s brother. An ambitious dreamer who believes in all the world has to offer. His passion is two-sided as he can be hot tempered and even exhibit signs of extreme depression and self-loathing. Actor must be able to play a wide range of emotions. High tenor with strong falsetto, soulful sound.

Mercy
Male, Age Range: 30s-40s, All ethnicities. Antoinette’s wise advisor, comical and witty with heart felt care for his job and for the development and well-being of Antoinette. Age range and ethnicity are open; Baritone/Tenor

Madame Tussauds

She is charming and wise and, in many ways, serves as a narrator providing the framework for the story. Must have a strong high-belt.

Critta
Female, African Descent, Age Range: 20s-30s. Sally’s Sister.

Martha Jefferson
Female, Caucasian, Age Range: 20s-40s. Thomas Jefferson’s daughter and Sally’s half sister. Has a loving admiration for her father, which is often accompanied by extreme jealousy.
