Equity musical theatre performers, men and women, for various principal roles in the upcoming 2015 Season.

Preparation
Please prepare a brief musical theatre song or pop song which best shows your personality and abilities. Bring sheet music, in the correct key, as an accompanist will be provided. (no monologues please.) Please bring a picture and resume, stapled together.

Breakdown

2015 Season (seeking actors of all races and ethnic backgrounds):

BILLY ELLIOT
Music by Elton John. Book and Lyrics by Lee Hall.
Director: Eric Woodall. Choreographer: Adam Pelty.
1st full company rehearsal: Monday, January 26th. Show run is February 10th through 15th.

Seeking:

BILLY
10-13 years old. A major ballet dancer with strong tap skills; must sing very well, cannot have a broken/changed voice; quiet, reserved, tough, a bit of a lost boy searching for his place in the world; while taking boxing lessons (which he’s not into) he stumbles upon a dance class and discovers his life’s passion; dancing gives him a voice all his own and electrifies his world. ROLE CAST. Those auditioning will be seen as replacements/understudies.

MRS. WILKINSON
Late 30s – Early 50s. Billy's dancing teacher. Excellent singing voice. Great energy, drive, determination, warmth and compassion. Doesn't suffer fools gladly. Good comedic skills. Must be able to tap and be a strong mover/dancer. ROLE CAST. Those auditioning will be seen as replacements/understudies.

DAD
40s-50’s. Billy’s dad. Leading actor. Needs to be able to sing. Geordie miner. Working class. Single parent. Narrow-minded. Tries to do the best for his family. At the end of his tether. Feels sorry for himself. ROLE CAST. Those auditioning will be seen as replacements/understudies.

GRANDMA
50s - 70s. Actress must be able to sing. Good dance or movement skills. Tap if possible. Good comedy skills required. Character actress.

TONY
20s. Billy’s brother. Geordie miner. Excellent actor with a strong singing voice. Outspoken. Loud, macho, up for a fight.

MICHAEL
10-13 years old. 5’ or under. No broken voice. Billy’s best friend. Tap dancer. Very strong actor/singer/dancer.

DEBBIE
9-12 years old. Max height 4’8” . Some ballet experience. Strong acting role. Also dances with the Ballet Girls.

GEORGE
Billy’s Boxing teacher. Geordie miner. Late 30’s – 50’s. Excellent comedy skills. Friend of Dad’s. Spokesman of the miners. Community spirited. Working class. Singing not essential and no tap required.

DAN
Diana's husband. He is handsome and genuine. Though a constant in Diana's tumultuous life, he has grown tired and weary of her antics. Male, 40-45 yrs old. Range: Ab2 – B4.

DIANA
Delusional, bipolar, and depressed. The sexiness of her yesterdays has only recently begun to soften. She is determined to make her family perfect but is tortured. Female, 40-45 yrs old. Range: G3 – F#5. ROLE CAST. Those auditioning will be seen as replacements/understudies.

DR. MADDEN
Diana's handsome psychiatrist. Quite assured in his practice and considered somewhat of a rock star. Male, 30-40 yrs old. Range: A2 – A4.

GABE
Diana & Dan's son. Dashing, athletic, and bright. He is a playful man and everything a mother could imagine. Male, 18-21 yrs old. Range: B2 – C5.

HENRY
Natalie's classmate. The all-around musician, philosopher, and slacker. He has an intoxicating capacity for sympathy and romance. Male, 17 yrs old. Range: G#2 – B4.

NATALIE
Diana & Dan's troubled daughter. An accomplished pianist and hardworking student, her struggles are exacerbated by her mother's behavior. She greatly admires Henry. Female, 16 yrs old. Range: G3 – G5..

A young, earnest maiden mistreated by her stepmother and stepsisters. Female, 20-30. Range: G3 – G5.

CIDERELLA'S MOTHER
Deceased. Her soul guards her daughter from a tree. Female, 40-55. Range E4 – F4.

CINDERELL'S PRINCE
Vain and gorgeous, he is a disloyal lover who is currently searching for the next new, exciting thing. Male, 30-40 yrs old. Range: B2 – F4.

CINDERELLA'S STEPMOTHER
The mean-spirited, demanding stepmother of Cinderella. Female, 40-50 yrs old. Range: A3 – F#5.

LUCINDA AND FLORINDA
Cinderella's stepsisters who are black of heart. They follow in their mother's footsteps of abusing Cinderella. Female, 25-35 yrs old. Range: C4 – Ab5.

BAKER
A harried and insecure baker who is simple and loving, yet protective of his family. He wants his wife to be happy and is willing to do anything to ensure her happiness but refuses to let others fight his battles. Male, 35-45 yrs old. Range: Ab2 – G4.

BAKER'S WIFE
Determined and bright woman who wishes to be a mother. She leads a simple, yet satisfying life and is very low-maintenance yet proactive in her endeavors. Female, 35-45 yrs old. Range: F3 – G5.

RUPUNZEL
A loopy-but-lovely maiden who is sheltered by the Witch and terribly lonely. She yearns to experience the world. Female, 20-30 yrs old. Range: B3 – A5.

RUPUNZEL'S PRINCE
Just as vain and gorgeous as his Prince brother, he is always chasing the newest, most exiting endeavor. Male, 30-40 yrs old. Range: C#3 – E4.

JACK
The feckless Giant killer who is 'almost a man.' He is adventurous, naive, energetic, and bright-eyed. Male, 20-30 yrs old. Range: B2 – G4.

JACK'S MOTHER
Browbeating and weary, Jack's protective mother who is independent, bold, and strong-willed. Female, 50-65 yrs old. Range: Bb3 – Gb5.

LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD
A spoiled young girl who is strong-willed, quick-wited, fearless, yet youthful and naive. Female, 15-20 yrs old. Range: Bb3 – F5.

MYSTERIOUS MAN
A mischievous vagrant and nosy meddler. He is a good-natured protector and observer. Male, 50-65 yrs old. Range: G2 – Eb4..

NARRATOR
An intellectual and pleasant story-teller who helps to orchestrate the show and illustrate lessons to the audience. Male, Any Age. Range: G2 – E4.

THE WITCH
Sarcastic, ugly-then-gorgeous, obsessive protector of Rapunzel who is straightforward and aggressive. Female, 45-55 yrs old. Range: F3 – G5.

WOLF
Hungry and insatiable hunter who takes advantage of the weak by misleading and captivating his prey. Male, 30-35 yrs old. Range: Bb2 – Gb4.
