Actor Track:
Female. African American. Versatile actress plays multiple characters in this one person show. Inducing: JAMES (55. A homeless man with a raspy voice who has lived in Harlem all his life); CLARISSA (11. Black. A sassy and charismatic girl who lives in a Harlem housing project and “assists” Mr. Joy in his shoe shop); BESSIE (72. Black. A woman who is a lifetime Harlem resident and Clarissa’s grandmother); DeSHAWN (16. Black. An energetic, charismatic young man who lives in Harlem); PETER (12. Black. A boy who lives in Harlem and is Clarissa’s boyfriend); JOHN LEE (late 20s. Chinese-American. He is Mr. Joy’s son who grew up in Harlem and is now a very successful real estate developer who works for Clifford; REBECCA (late 30s. White. A perky upper eastside woman; she is Clifford’s girlfriend); CLIFFORD (early 50s. Black. A Republican, conservative man. He is a big time real estate developer, John Lee’s boss, Rebecca’s boyfriend, and Ashes’ father.); ASHES (a post-op transsexual flight attendant who is Clifford’s “daughter.”)
