CONTRACT

Short Engagement Touring

Category 1; $963/week


SEEKING

Equity actor/singers for various roles in the upcoming SETA Tour. All actors must sing very well and move well in the style of the characters they are portraying. All must also be subtle actors who can capture the essence of this time period. See breakdown.


PREPARATION

Please prepare a song from the Motown Songbook. Bring your book of music in case you are asked for another selection. Bring picture and resume.

BREAKDOWN

NOTE: MOTOWN the Musical is based on the life of Berry Gordy.

Because most of these characters are real people, although we are not seeking impersonators, we do want actors that evoke the look and sound of these music icons.

All actors must sing very well and move well in the style of the characters they are portraying. All must also be subtle actors who can capture the essence of this time period.

BERRY GORDY

Male, African American. Attractive, appealing and aspirational… a commanding presence. . Slim build. Must have a huge pop tenor voice with soaring tenor notes. Character ages between 18 and 50 within the course of the play. Seeking actor who can play ages between 18 and 50. LEAD ROLE

DIANA ROSS

Female, African American, 5’1” to 5’5”, stunningly beautiful with a petite/slim build. Must be able to portray Diana’s youthful shy innocence and then grow to become a super star. The character ages between 16 and 40 within the course of the play. Seeking actress who can play ages between 16 and 40. LEAD ROLE

SMOKEY ROBINSON

Male, African American, 20s to early 30s.Tenor Must look and sound like Smokey Robinson and must be an authentic and sincere actor. Funny with a heart of gold. LEAD ROLE

MARVIN GAYE

Male, African American, 20s to early 30s. Must look and sound like Marvin Gaye ( tenor) and must be an authentic and sincere actor. Must morph from young polite Marvin Gaye to the volatile activist he became. LEAD ROLE

LITTLE BERRY/STEVIE/MICHAEL

Doubles as young Berry Gordy, Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson. Male, African American, 8 to 13 to play 8. Must sing like Michael Jackson ala “I WANT YOU BACK” in original keys. LEAD ROLE.
