BREAKDOWN
DOTTIE
(Female, Mid 60’s-Mid 70’s, Any Ethnicity) An attractive woman, well put-together. Classy proud, and dignified; but not without a few skeletons in the closet. She has mid stage Alzheimer’s, but she's doing her best to work around it. She’s survived a lot, so why not this?
LEANNE
(Female, Late 40’s- Early 50’s, Any Ethnicity) Dottie’s daughter. A Mom, and wife with the ache for a more fabulous life. Not as adventurous as she’d like to be, though she tries. She has spent the last several months living with and caring for her mother.
DAVID
(Male, Early-Late 50’s, Any Ethnicity) Leanne’s older brother, gay, lives in LA and perhaps not as in touch with himself as he needs to be. A successful author of children’s books. He has just released his first semi-autobiographical adult novel. He is helping his sister pack up their mother’s house.
FRANKIE REY
(Male, Mid 30’s- Mid 40’s, South American) Handsome, sexy, leading man type. A charmer who happens to be on a mission to save the world. Extremely charismatic. Truly believes in the message he has been tasked to share with the rest of the world. The heart of a native people with the body of a god.
JANE/JUDY
(Female, Mid 60’s-Mid 70’s, Any Ethnicity) JANE- A friendly neighbor, but don’t let her exterior fool you. She’s tough and unforgiving when it comes to local standards - even if those standards are of her own making. Believes strongly in the color code system of national security. Makes herself at home wherever she is. JUDY- A homeless women. A failed concert pianist who is philosophical about life and her situation.
RYDER
(Female,12-14, Any Ethnicity) A book smart kid who is wise beyond her years - or wants to be. Nothing surprises her - certainly not her family members. She can read them like a book. Can sometimes feel ignored, but never resorts to being a brat. Loves to read and finds everything she learns about to be absolutely fascinating. Strong ideals.
