BREAKDOWN

SYNOPSIS
MEN WITH MOENY is set in Technicolor Manhattan in the 1950s—but it’s an alternate version of the 1950s in which it’s okay to be gay—and people of all stripes are treated equally. In this subversive, romantic romp, three young men set out to make their wild dream come true—to find, woo, and win lovers with money. Loads of money. Two gay and one straight, they might just have the charm and chutzpah to pull it off.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWNS

Louis - Male, a mature 25. Natural leader. Clean-cut. A forward energy. The type who lights up and commands a room. Warm. Playful. Driven. Dynamic. Charming. Funny. Works in a mailroom, but he’ll make it big. *Actor should be naturally warm and funny or else his directness will come across as harsh, which he isn’t.

Max - Male, 25. Easy going, but a bull in a china shop. An actor. Sporty. Charming. Clean-cut. Feels the highs and lows of life fully, bouncing back to joy easily. Loves people, loves life.

Sonny - Male, early 20s. Naïve. Enthusiastic. Loyal. Zany. Clean-cut. Has a great big heart. Sunny. Elevator operator. Raised on a farm.

Hot Dog - Male, 30ish. Laid back. Grounded. Sexy. Whimsical. Charming. Playful. Funny. Appreciates “real” things—nature, etc. Knows what he wants out of life.

Thursday - Female, 25ish. A straight-shooter. Says it like it is. Ambitious. Flirty. Knows who she is. Makes life more fun wherever she is. Smart, efficient, born leader, funny, sexy. Voice: A belter

Tycoon - Male, 40s. Wealthy. Well-mannered. Sexy. Kind. Forthright. Meant to be an “older man” compared to the main trio.

Frenchy - Male, 40s. French. Suave. Sincere. Sprightly. Worldly.

Marvatech - Male, 30ish. Masculine. Athletic. Clean-cut. At ease with himself and the world. Confident. The character’s gay, but he needs to be believable as assumed-straight.

Mrs. Mugsten - Female, 40s–60s. Loud. Intimidating. Questionable morals. Strong singing and dancing abilities preferred.

Ensemble - Male and Female, a mix of vocal ranges. Many featured roles will be given to female ensemble members so that we see female pilots, justices, tv directors, etc. Strong, trained dancers with a knack for physicality and acrobatics; jazz and tap skills preferred, must sing well.
