Seeking (All roles are available):

MARY POPPINS:
25-35. Mezzo with Strong Top. As Jane and Michael’s new nanny, she is a dazzling personality and a force to be reckoned with. She is full of hope when things look bleak, and also inspires the Banks family, through magic and common sense, to remember the need for compassion and appreciation. Must be an excellent singer/actor. Must Dance very well / Musical Theatre style. Must not be afraid of heights.

BERT:
25-35 Baritone. A one-man-band, sidewalk artist, chimney sweep, kite salesman, and friend to Mary Poppins. He is charming and charismatic. He also serves as a narrator to the story. Must be a strong actor. Must Dance extremely well / Musical Theatre/Tap styles. Must not be afraid of heights.

GEORGE BANKS:
Late 30s to 45. Baritone. Head of the Banks household, he is a bank manager who tries to be a good provider for his family, but often forgets to be a good father and husband. Should be comfortable with movement.

WINIFRED BANKS:
Mid 30’s to 40. Mezzo. Jane and Michael’s loving yet distracted mother who is desperate to impress Mary and have her stay. She is a former actress who is very busy trying to live up to her husband’s societal and lifestyle expectations. Should be comfortable with movement.

JANE BANKS:
To play 10 to 12 years old. Girl Soprano. Bright, exuberant, and willful. She is inclined to snobbishness. Mary looks to teach her respect and humility, while fostering her independent spirit. Should be comfortable with movement.

MICHAEL BANKS:
To play 8-10. Boy Soprano. The Banks’ young, precocious son whose poor behavior has brought on the need for Mary Poppins. She looks to teach him generosity and manners, while encouraging his childlike imagination. Should be comfortable with movement.

MRS. BRILL:
40s to 50s. Alto. The Banks’ direct and exasperated cook/housekeeper who rules the kitchen with an iron fist. Should be comfortable with movement.

ROBERTSON AY:
20’s to early 30’s. Tenor. The Bank’s clumsy, yet good-hearted footman who has a little trouble following directions. Physical comedy a plus. Dance a plus.

MISS ANDREW:
40’s to late 50’s. Soprano with Alto Belt. George Bank’s formidable-looking childhood nanny. She is cruel, terrifying, and demanding to the entire Banks household. This role may double with THE BIRDWOMAN or other small role. Should be comfortable with movement.

BIRD WOMAN:
45-60. Alto. The old, wizened, and solemn woman who sits outside St. Paul’s Cathedral selling bags of crumbs for the pigeons. Her presence helps Mary teach the children to look past someone’s exterior in order to see their true beauty. This role may double with MISS ANDREW or other small role. Should be comfortable with movement.

ADMIRAL BOOM / BANK CHAIRMAN:
50-60. Baritone. ADMIRAL BOOM: The Bank’s jolly and friendly neighbor whose house is shaped like a great ship. BANK CHAIRMAN: George’s intimidating, yet ultimately appreciative boss. Should be comfortable with movement.

MRS. CORRY:
40s and up. Gregarious, mysterious and very old. She runs the “Talking Shop” where people come to buy conversations. She knew George Banks when he was a boy. Should be comfortable with movement.

NELIUS:
20’s. The epitome of male beauty. He is a statue in the park come to life. Strong ballet training - will also be part of the male ensemble (see below for breakdown).

MALE ENSEMBLE:
