Palos Verdes Performing Arts is pleased to announce auditions for the upcoming production of “MARY POPPINS” Part of the Norris Theatre 3-Play season. Tony Mansker (Director/Choreographer), Jared Scott (Musical Director) James Gruessing (Producer). Auditions will be held by appointment June 12-13, 2015 at the beautiful 450 seat Norris Theatre in the South Bay area of Los Angeles.

There are 2 Equity Guest Artist Contracts available for the show. All roles are open to performers of any union status. Rehearsals begin8/24/2015. Performances run September 18 – October 4, 2015 at the Norris Theatre.

Seeking:
Bert: Male to play age 25-35. Bert is a Chimney Sweep and Jack-of-all-Trades. He is charming and charismatic. Must be a strong tap dancer, at least 6’ tall and sing well and be able to carry a British accent.

Mr. George Banks: Male to play age 35-50, Baritone. A bank manager, Mr. Banks is father to Jane and Michael. He tries to be a good provider, but often forgets how to be a good father.

Mrs. Winifred Banks: Female to play age 30-40, Mezzo Soprano. A former actress, Mrs. Banks is very busy trying to live up to her husband’s expectations. She is a loving, but distracted mother to Jane and Michael.

Jane Banks: Female Girl to Play age 11. She is the ring leader and create mischief to gain attention from her parents.

Michael Banks: Male Boy to play age 9: Jane’s younger brother. Sweet but can also create mischief and become a handful for his parents.

Mrs. Brill: Female to play age 45-60, Alto. The Banks’ cook, she rules the kitchen at No. 17 Cherry Tree Lane. Comedic timing a must!

Robertson Ay: Male to play early 20’s, Tenor. Clumsy, but good-hearted, the Banks’ bootman has trouble following instructions.

Miss Andrew: Female to play age 50-60, soprano with alto belt. George Banks’ old nanny, cruel and demanding.

Katie Nanna: Female to play 25-45. The last in a long line of nannies for the Banks children, Katie Nanna can’t stand any more of Jane and Michael’s pranks and leaves No. 17 Cherry Tree Lane.

Admiral Boom: Male to play age 50-60, Baritone. The Banks’ friendly neighbor on Cherry Tree Lane.

Miss Lark: Female to play age 30-50, Mezzo. Another neighbor on Cherry Tree Lane, she is a bit snobby and treats her dog as a child.

Mrs. Cory: Female of indeterminate age, Soprano. Mysterious and very old, Mrs. Corry runs the “Talking Shop” where people buy conversations and gingerbread. She knew George Banks when he was just a boy. Must have a strong accent (French, Cockney, or Jamaican).

Neleus: Male to play 20’s, Tenor. A statue in the Park, Neleus has lost his father, Poseidon, god of the ocean. Strong ballet dancer (triple pirouette,/double tour).

The Bird Woman: Female to play age 50-60’s, Alto. She sits in front of St.Paul’s Cathedral every day, selling bags of crumbs for the pigeons.

Ensemble: Mary Poppins features a large ensemble of singers and dancers in a variety of supporting roles.
The show also includes a number of dance styles, including tap, ballet, jazz and other genres.
