Breakdown

Seymour is a down-on-his-luck floral clerk with a knack for plants, but no real future. However, one peculiar plant he’s tending might just be his ticket out of Skid Row – for him and the girl of his dreams. There’s only one teeny - but ‘growing’ - problem: This plant has an unquenchable thirst for…human blood! Mixing Motown, B-movies, and The American Dream, Little Shop of Horrors is a screamingly funny, gleefully twisted, out-of-this-world hit musical.

Actively seeking a diverse cast for this production.

SEEKING:

[SEYMOUR KRELBORN] Male, mid-20s-30s. Any race/ethnicity. A struggling introvert who comes from poverty, but has a hero’s heart. Genuine, with a strong moral center, equally at home in comedy and pathos. Bari-tenor. Vocal Range: A2 - G4, can sing musical theatre but also cut loose into a rock sound.

[AUDREY] Female, mid-20s-30s. Any race/ethnicity. A sweet girl from the wrong side of the tracks who has fallen in love with the wrong guy. She has low self-esteem, but beautiful dreams of happiness and security. Vocal Range: G#3 - D5 Soprano with strong rock mix/belt

[CRYSTAL, RONNETE & CHIFFON] Females, mid-20s-30s, Any race/ethnicity. Our musical guides through the evening, sometimes acting as a Greek Chorus – they know what’s coming. These three characters will also play instruments and be their own rock band, and part of the show band. Must have strong vocals, and excellent musical skills (or demonstrated commitment to mastering their instrument). Vocal Ranges: low alto to belt soprano, strong R&B style. Instruments sought: rhythm guitar, lead guitar, drums, bass, keyboards, or anything else you can rock and sing with (no winds).

[MR. MUSHNIK] Male, mid-50s-60s, Any race/ethnicity. Seasoned owner of the failing Skid Row flower shop and Seymour's boss. He is a good man who is given the chance to turn into a greedy one, and (sadly), takes it. Baritone. Vocal Range: G2 - F4

[ORIN SCRIVELLO D.D.S.] Male, mid 20s-40s, Any race/ethnicity. Egotistical dentist with a passion for leather and sadistic tendencies. Audrey's abusive boyfriend. This actor also plays other roles, and should be a strong comic with great transformational skills. Vocal Range: Bass (a la Johnny Cash) or Bari-tenor.

[VOICE OF THE PLANT ''AUDREY II''] Male, Any age, Any race/ethnicity. Actor/vocalist with a funky Rhythm and Blues voice, located offstage. The voice is that of a conniving, street-smart 'villain.' – a cross between Wolfman Jack and Barry White. Baritone with extension. Vocal Range: G2 - G4 with great style.
