Seeking strong actors and singers to play the roles of Jesus, Judas, Mary, King Herod, and Annas. See breakdown


PREPARATION

Please bring ONE copy of Headshot/Resume. Please prepare a brief song that shows off a rock, gospel, or pop sensibility. The song doesn't have to be from a musical; it should simply be a song you love to sing that shows us power, range, and emotion. Singing from the show is encouraged. Bring sheet music; accompanist provided.

BREAKDOWN

JESUS CHRIST:

Male Identified (33) African American, Tenor;

Leader of the twelve disciples, a man called the “Son of God” and the “King of the Jews”. Battling humanity vs. divinity.


JUDAS ISCARIOT:

Male Identified (30’s) African American, Tenor with a Strong Falsetto;

One of the twelve apostles of Jesus. He is certainly not an evil man. He is concerned for the poor and the consequences of Jesus’ fame.


MARY MAGDALENE:

Female Identified (20’s to 30’s) African American, Mezzo-Soprano;

Female follower of Jesus who finds herself falling in love with him.


ANNAS/KING HEROD:

Male Identified (20’s to 50’s) African American, Tenor;

Dual role. Annas: One of the main antagonists of the show. He is a fellow priest at the side of Caiaphas who is persuaded by Caiaphas into seeing Jesus as a threat. Should posess a strong rock counter-tenor voice. King Herod: The King of Galilee. Jesus is brought to him for judgment after first being taken to Pilate.
